Preventing the Stove Pipe Jam - Part 5, Ruger Mark IV Modifying the Magazine to Change Bullet Angle

In this video I show you how I am modifying the magazines on my Ruger Mark IV. This also changes the entry angle at which the bullets feed into the barrel as they are picked up by the bolt.

The modification is pretty basic, I pretty much am going to round off the sharp corners at the back of the magazine that hold the bullet in the magazine. Yes, I know during the video I said clip, bad habit, sorry. This basically allows the bullet more wiggle room up and down. After that polish the top to make sure everything is nice and smooth, to help the bullets slide out more easily.
I will post the results of the modification as soon as I test them, which should be this weekend coming up. 6/8/24, so I hopefully can get the video completed and to you either by Sunday or Monday following that.

So after 5k rds does this hack stop all jamming 100%? Or once in a while.

I have not had any stove pipes since doing this. With extreme use a no cleaning just to test it I did get 2. I have put over 1k rounds in it since doing this.

@BallistiXPro guessing it was the cartridge then. You get the Volquartsen trigger kit for your num' bah 4?

@@user-my5gj4me6q - I think it was a combination of the gunpowder buildup on the bolt and the inside of the upper receiver slowing the timing down along with the magazine. I had purchased brand new magazines to try to fix the issue thinking maybe I had just gotten a bad luck of the draw. Nope, now I have six magazines, all of them are equal even the older ones. I did get the Volquartsen trigger. Yes and it is very nice. I was able to customize it so there is absolutely no take-up at all, just click, it hits the back of the trigger guard almost right after as well. Best trigger I have installed to date on any of my pistols.

@BallistiXPro noice! Do have the VQ trigger for my 10/22, when I 1st tried it I said "no way!" Then tried the Ruger trigger it was heavy. Them kits are LIGHT! Best thing I've done to my 22.
