Bombers always drop unguided dumb bombs instead of cruise missile. They never show what a military can actually do, they always purposely nerf them so there can be a macguffin for the audience.

Back when Ridley Scott and John Carpenter were doing Alien and The Thing, they gave their FX teams plenty of opportunity to make evil goopy things with slime and blood, but those movies also had good plots. they were only sort of good in old days because there weren't as many of them so they didn't need to come up with something different than everything that was already out. its hard to come up with something totally different and new and producers like Hollywood and Disney and others are lazy is why u see non stop sequals, prequals and adaptations of old films.

for a movie that had such a stupid main plotline the enemy was honestly really cool, with an interesting alien backstory. still, i can't mentally deal with the fact that they used time travel to do what they did, it makes no sense and would gut the timeline. literally just tell old earth that they spawned somewhere in siberia and have them start looking decades before hand, or at the very least start having military preparations, but why try to take people from the past to be used as manpower
