It reminded me of the other Bodhisattva valuation several years back on the show that went under the hammer not to long after for big money.

I remember that one - I think the valuation was around 80k. (100k - thanks to the person below who posted the clip, and it sold for many times that - 2.1 million at Sothebys).

I followed your link. That item was appraised at $100,000 to $125,000 not "over a million" as you stated. Where did you get that number from?

@@danmoyer4650 The quote was "that WENT FOR (aka sold for) over a million," not that it was APPRAISED FOR that amount on the Roadshow. It actually sold for $2.1 million.

The gender of this bodhisattva is very debatable. Buddha was depicted as feminine starting in the 5th-6th century - Quanyin emerged from these images. Many scholars would agree that these images represent something beyond gender.

@@kumquatmagoo She didn't appreciate it. She said she does not like it and that it is kept in a box, and that she bought it because "it looked old" . So she bought it on the mere possibility that it could be valuable, not because it she appreciated the beauty of it.

I don't mind that she thought it might be a good worthwhile purchase but she showed little respect for the religious significance of it, even when he was trying to explain it to her. Typically self-absorbed and entitled.
