Very great video! Thank you for sharing this experience. I know Taiwan is a great place with very very little crime and always feels very safe, even so, the degree of security that this auction house gave to the items, many of which probably don't belong to the auction company. Given the minimal security, it would be way too easy for a criminal to steal these priceless works that don't belong to the auction house. Based on that I was skeptical. On a few of the items. Namely, The late Shang ritual bronze vessel is shared during the middle of the video. For being a Shang piece, I was first struck by its lack of fineness. Namely If you reference any of the examples from William Watson's book, The art of China 900 (Yale University press), you will see that the ancient bronze es were very fine and very detailed. The vessel in the video was not very fine, imo. That is many details seen in actual shang vases - a crowded network of parallel fine lines and outlines; sharp Angles, very even and finely shaped surfaces; and very smooth surfaces were omitted in the piece the piece, and it's overall rough surface seemed remnant of more modern bronzes remnant like where you find on a Rodin sculpture, imo. Secondly, the patina seemed really off to me. Actual pieces seem to have pieces of corrosion that look like it had been peeled or chopped off at one point, and these defects are very natural and irregular throughout. They also often have very small but bright green and Blue bits from formation of azurite and malachite. The corrosion almost seems like powdery or fuzzy with crystals or flaky. I didn't see these characteristics in the piece in the video. Anyway thanks again....I'm still learning still, much from you!
