STORYLINE
The jewellery collection of two American heiresses are being put up for auction at Christie''s this spring.
The jewellery collection from the estate of Huguette M. Clark, who died in 2011 at the age of 104 will be auctioned on Tuesday in New York City.
Born in Paris in 1906, Huguette Clark was the seventh and youngest child of industrialist William A. Clark, who at the time was said to be one of the richest men in America, with a fortune said to have rivalled that of the Rockerfellers.
Huguette is said to have been one of the last great heiresses of the Gilded Age, an era of rapid economic and population growth in the US in the late 19th century.
The family fortune came first from copper mining in Montana, and later grew into a diversified business empire that included railroad, banking, publishing, sugar and timber companies.
Rahul Kadakia, Head of Jewelry for Christie''s Americas, was amazed by the quality of the jewels found in Miss Clarks vault.
At the time of her death, Clark''s fortune was estimated in the hundreds of millions of US dollars. She is said to have no direct descendants.

@@Sanpedranoazul Not that I am aware. She had extended relatives who called her "crazy" more or less. Telling an interviewer she "wasn't of sound mind".

So, what? You just want these inanimate items to just sit and rot away in a box? Don't you see the good it will do after these have been auctioned off -- WHICH by the way, whether you like it or not, has already been done -- will benefit 20+ charities? HELLO???? WHere are your priorities?
