So excited for this project. This is a game changer for both Singaporeans and Malaysians. U can seamlessly travel to JB and likewise from JB to SG effortlessly. If only the trains can go further aside from just central JB, i think it’ll even be much better and we can rely less on cars and buses on the causeway.

Actually what we need is very simple, single efficient checkpoint that integrate both Singapore and Malaysia immigration and a proper covered walk path.
@jarrenloke21202 жыл бұрын
RTS service is designed with integrated CIQ which require passengers to only clear immigration once at the point of departure. This is why there is no CIQ at the arrival hall. CIQ facilities can never be simple because its more than just stamping and scanning passports.

If voters in Malaysia were not emotional and fall for the lies from Pakatan Harapan in GE2018 by voting a stable & progressive BN govt, the RTS would have been a MRT train (not LRT) to JB and will be ready by now. Now the damage is done and it is a downgraded to LRT level and project delays.
@aliboss522 жыл бұрын
I like to warn all Malaysia commuters. Don't try to smuggle drugs into Singapore by taking MRT and thinking it is an easy task. No one is watching. Then one is dead wrong! I guaranteed when one is caught he or she won't get to see the daylight anymore. Also someone planted the drugs into my bag or you tell the CIA I'm born with low mentality. Try harder! Mark my word. Many are going to get caught. Is just a matter of time. Obey all countries law and travel safely. Gd day!
@AimlessSky2 жыл бұрын
Ultimately it depends on how fast it takes to clear both CIQs. If the clearance is slow, it doesn't matter how much capacity the trains can carry as it will only cause long queues to form at the CIQs and end up having to temporary suspend the service.
@jarrenloke21202 жыл бұрын
The greatest challenge for the RTS may not be the CIQ. Getting to and out of Bukit Chagar stations will be a major challenge due to congestion. Even without RTS, the road around BC stations is already very congested.
@bhcf2m2 жыл бұрын
I think they have already thought about it in the design. Passengers will clear both country immigration at the departure station before boarding the train. Right after they alight the train, they will step right into the public area without the need to go through another immigration again. They can already just leave the station. So it will not happen that long queue of people stuck at arrival hall immigration.
@AimlessSky2 жыл бұрын
@@bhcf2m It may still happen. Most passengers will need to clear both immigration before the next train arrives, as that is what determines whether queues will form at the CIQs. Its not just the capacity, but the efficiency and speed of clearance if they are aiming at a 10,000pph per direction of passenger load.
@bhcf2m2 жыл бұрын
@@AimlessSky The passengers don't necessarily need to clear immigration before the next train. Their ticket doesn't restrict them to taking a specific timed train. They can just take the next train that arrives after they clear immigration. If the immigration is slow, the current train will just simply depart with less passengers. The passengers can see the immigration hall before they enter. If the queue is really long, this design allows them to just wait around in the nearby shopping mall first and come back later.
@AimlessSky2 жыл бұрын
@@bhcf2mYour talking about the departure load which will never be a problem, the issue usually lies with arrival passenger load. Its direct from platform to CIQ clearance. The clearance for the arrival passengers either way in Woodlands North and Bukit Chagar need to work similarly efficient for the arrival load to be cleared fast. The system caters for 10,000pph per direction, if it doesn't at least achieve this, it just simply means a failure in design.

The PH government's insistence on using narrower Malaysia LRT rolling stock instead of the wider TEL MRT train and Woodland's depot may become the weak link of the entire project. Another concern is the traffic and accessibility around the Bukit Chagar area which will make worse by Malaysia decision to build an LRT depot right in the heart JB city. Personally I feel that is a bad decision without long term planning for Johore's future infrastructure development.
