Man, this is fantastic so far. Need to watch the rest later. Never thought I’d be on the hunt for old previews catalogs….!

I love shit like this in general, but getting a catalog from right about the time I started being a comic shop regular was a lot of fun.

What a unique idea for a video! I think i was not buying any new comics at all in 1991, so this is all fascinating to me. That mini-comic by Brad Foster, GOODIES, had very high production values, which may also have been a reason it was listed alongside more traditional titles. I have a Cold Cut catalog from 1999 which I'll send along if you are interested, very different from Previews.

Oh, man, I'd love to see that, Gary! I bet that it's fascinating. I only have one or two things by Brad Foster, but everything I've seen looks nice. He's a real blind spot for me. I'd love to know more about him. It seems like he was very productive.

@@loadingthecanon1919 Just for a ballpark estimate Rick Bradford lists 473 Brad W. Foster comics either published or contributed to! And, he just put out a new mini-comic this year.

Fun video. I used to work for Bedrock City comics in Houston from about 1992-1997, so it brought back some memories. I can't believe Fat Jacks ordered no Fantagraphics! Eightball was a perennial seller back then. For a long time, I had a copy of Capital City's first distribution catalog, but eventually let it go like I did a lot of other things (including the Epic Akiras and the Rolf Stark Rain that you mentioned here; I had forgotten all about Rain until I saw this video; I need to hunt down a copy to reread it). Another thing of note - that Dark Horse 5 year anniversary special has the first chapter of Sin City, which is only mentioned as a new Frank Miller solo story in the solicitation. It turned out to be pretty huge!

Thanks for sharing your memories. That's great. I'd like to track down an issue of Advanced Comics. Not that I think that it will be much different than Previews, but it's what I used ordered from when I first started shopping at comic shops. If you're around, I'll be going through another old Previews catalog on ComicKkrakk's channel tomorrow at 9ish PM Central time.
