from an OT perspective, use smaller crayons or chalk, so go ahead and break them in half! This will promote a better grasp pattern for kids by working on the pincher grasp

Some fun ideas here - Best crayons for little ones are smaller ones - check out flip crayons from Handwriting without Tears - breaking regular crayons in half can work too - golf pencils are also better as well.

this is awesome! so simple and easy. My son is 4 and is not very confident in his writing skills so these are some great ideas. I also bought a work book from the dollar tree on practicing drawing shapes which helped. Thanks for the video!

Darcelle Kropp Fabulous! As long as it is fun, they'll love it. We keep it light and not very serious and they think they are "just" playing. Let me know how it goes. LOVE the dollar tree materials too!

This is a great video, we are still doing pre-writing with our 4 year old. I have found that his lines look a bit jagged. We use a whiteboard and expo pens . Or i print sheets he can trace lines though a page protector.

Barefoot Izzy Those are both great ideas too. I like to change up the writing tool because they all have different feels to them. One day crayon, next pencil, pen, marker, dry erase, paint brush. I love that you are doing stuff like that with him!
@pre-kdivertido31985 жыл бұрын
That’s also a great idea

Little chalk boards are great too - the resistance the chalk has against the board is more than the white board and marker and it seems to provide some nice feedback for lots of kids

Patricia Keele It works really well if the stickers are ones they like. I feel like I'm always buying stickers, but they work for so many things. I sent you an email a few days ago... did you get it?

Hello, I love your videos they've been very helpful. My daughter is 3 years old and I wanted to ask you a Quick question: she has mastered the lines and circles and was wondering what can I do next? I've also introduced the zig-zag lines and she likes it, so what do you suggest we should do next? Thank you
