Price Gouging - Behind the News

From groceries to electricity, plane tickets and insurance, things have been getting more expensive for the past few years. While there are lots of good reasons for that, some businesses have been accused of putting prices up to increase their profits - a practice known as price gouging. It’s been the subject of an inquiry by the Australian Council of Trade Unions which came out this week. We look at what price gouging is, and why some say a lack of competition is driving up prices.
