Really appreciate the words about safety and avoiding fumes. Id love to get a setup like you have for work but we'll see if they're keen on paying for the 3m papr system, or at the very least splitting the cost. It's a little over 2k here atm. I like using the air filter respirator most of the time but there's times where it's too hot and you just skip it.

Safety is so important. To often this is skipped over and the end result is many years down the line when all of a sudden your lungs, etc., are shot and you are saying if I only knew. You can not depend on your employer to keep you safe, it is the workers responsibility for his own safety and no amount of money compensates for loss of good health. Allways enjoy your videos, always go away learning something knew and never fell that I could have spent my viewing time in a better manner. Clarence keep up the good work.

Thanks bro.. Safety is a major factor.. I suffered hospitalisation and numerous doctor visits and lost shifts because of chronic sinusitis and terrible sporadic headaches because of exposure to fumes from using 2.4mm Open Arc Flux Core and Low Hydrogen electrodes (MMA) Welding for nearly 6 hours a shift. Only to find out from an excellent ENT Specialist that I was suffering because of over exposure

pay by the inch is sweet sometimes. Doesn't happen too often here in canada, but the last one i did was $20/inch. so one 10" butt weld would make me $200. I was doing 100" of weld a day and invoicing $2000/day... they thought they'd save money this route, but it kind of bit them in the ass. lol

Hi Calvin, Want to pass along a great feature that stops the warping experienced in pipe welding (works on A-36 plate & structural members too). I was shown by a very savvy weldor/fitter. He always had a bucket of water & a rag nearby. Apply the wet rag in the right places...this retards the warping. This works on A-105 & s/s pipe too. Hope this helps, Pete 🙂

Thats so odd, my price is calculated per inch only. We get about £3 per inch and straights and little spools are the best. If i done 100 inches alone id make £300-£350, however its divided by every fitter and welder. Luckily there arent too many in my shop and we all work at pretty much the same speeds. So a good day could be like £400 each but some can be really bad.

Yeah, over here in the states, I'm an ironworker. We weld with stick and innershield wire. The wire is an irritant and the second you breath any spec of dust from it, it will make you cough. Our safety and procedure for it is that because we're outside, that's good enough to protect you from getting respiratory problems 😂

I always screw a plug into any socket or stabbing i welded on, it comes from when i was an apprentice, i was asked to weld a socket on a live pipe late on a Friday afternoon so maintenance could run an extension off it on Saturday morning, i rushed it so i could shoot off to go out for a good time Friday night, i came in Monday morning to a real ear bashing, the socket had deformed in the heat and they couldn't screw the pipe in to it, not only does the plug absorb some of the heat you know it's good to go when you screw it out.
