I live in the Klondike, about a 6 to 8 hour drive from Whitehorse depending on the road conditions. Prices are MUCH better in Whitehorse! Food is perhaps 60% there in the grocery stores. it is similar in restaurants as well. Housing is a bit more there, although fairly similar. Fuel is usually eight to 10 cents a liter cheaper in Whitehorse. So, there are “northern” prices in parts of Yukon!

Thanks for the info! With Whitehorse being more accessible, it makes sense that it doesn’t have the “northern” prices that make the headlines.

With all of the complaints that I hear from Canadians (online) about how they can't afford groceries, I was expecting to see $15 for a loaf of bread an $25+ for eggs (or something similar). The prices that you are showing here, for everything - groceries, rent/housing - are similar to where I live in USA. I'm shocked.

The prices we showed for groceries are similar to what we’ve seen across Canada too. Prices have gone up with the higher inflation but definitely not $15 for a loaf of bread!

Interesting! I would've thought that food would be way more expensive. But yeah, the prices you showed seemed comparable to elsewhere in BC. Which I suppose is already expensive compared to the rest of Canada. 😁

Any northern town next to a highway or a railroad will have prices similar to the major cities in Southern Canada, it's the remote communities with no paved roads and no railways that suffer from high food prices.

The grocery prices in Whitehorse are very comparable to any major city in Canada. We haven’t seen much difference at the major retailers. Though we’ve seen huge differences in smaller towns/villages.

1.90 per litre is 7.19 per gallon Canadian. 5.32 per gallon in USD.

I like your videos. I can’t get over the prices at home in Canada. For the price of 3 nights stay at that comfort inn, I am able to rent an entire house in North Macedonia 🇲🇰 for a month.

Thanks! It can be so expensive here. We go into price shock every time we come back. I hope you’re enjoying North Macedonia!

@@ChrisAndEmilie very much so. We. have no immediate plans to return to Canada and given prices, I'm not sure we really want to.
