Awesome man! Totally agree. We have to charge! And make a good profit! Reduce unnecessary expenses. But use quality and sometimes expensive tools. The tools is a key to be self confident. Things like, ultrasonic leak detector. If you are able the show to the customer where is the exactly a leak. He will trust you more then 3 other companies just before you. And he will buy a new system from you.

It varies depending on the season. We shoot for no less than 22-30% during the peak seasons and it can go as low as 8-15% during slower times.

shouldn't the cost of good sold(cogs) include more than just the salary of the highest paid technician? I am trying to determine my overhead percentage, won't that fluctuate as your overhead increases or decreases.
@Dc96894 жыл бұрын
If you have two guys running a service call ( tech and apprentice) are you calculating for both of their wages or just the one? Also how do you create a flat rate system for service when prices vary so much between furnaces? Ex. Inducer for a Trane may cost twice what it costs for an Amana.
@hvacmillionaire4 жыл бұрын
I use a spreadsheet that you put in your price on equipment then most of the labor and materials are the same except for certain systems that take communicating stats but you just make sure to pair those with the correct systems. Once you decide what your gross margin is that you want then add in your commission percentage or spiff it calculates the price for you. We don't add extra for an apprentice riding with an experienced tech.

Are you counting owners salary as overhead in these equations ? Also when you say your business showed 2-4% profit are you filing as a corporation with you as an employee or is this as you as a llc and that’s all the money you and the business made?
@hvacmillionaire3 жыл бұрын
I said industry average is 2-4% for Hvac businesses being reported.
