Not underrated by those of us who took time to study his background. His amateur wresting coaches were two former Olympic gold medalists, coach Shozo Sassahara and his top student. Sakuaraba was also coached in Catch as Catch Can by the greatest British wrestler of the 20th century in Billy Robinson.

Não tiro em nada o mérito do Sakuraba, que antes de vencer os Gracies já tinha vencido o então fenômeno VITOR BELFORT (G.M Carlson colocou a culpa em muito sexo antes da luta e uma infecçao por ameba). Sakuraba era aluno de um dos lutadores que Rickson venceu duas vezes. E sobre Rickson, antes que fale que ele fugiu, Rickson tinha um pré contrato que lhe daria a maior bolsa do MMA, cerca de 5 milhões de dólares, mas infelizmente seu filho morreu. Sakuraba entendeu e respeitou, mas os haters falam que Rickson fugiu. Forte abraço, tudo de bom em sua vida, OSS.

@@benjamimc5x67 , primeiramente, assim como Royce Gracie sou contra o que vem se tornando o Jiu Jitsu esportivo, nada que se aplique ao dia a dia, a chance de se defender. Tipo, até pode pegar o pé de alguém, mas a chance de tomar um chute na cara é maior. No J.J tradicional, era para Renzo meter o pé e jogar de cara no chão, pegando as costas, nao fez, mérito para Sakuraba, mas a posição, até Sakuraba reconheceu que era de dominância do Renzo e por isso mais mérito ainda do Saku. Não disse, que Saku não merecesse vencer, apenas disse que numa luta um segundo pode fazer diferença. O que importa é o resultado final: SAKURABA VENCEU, OSS.

Damn, that was something else. The only Gracie I know of is Royce, but this Gracie brother just took a fractured elbow/lower arm and didn't tap at all. That's either complete dedication or complete toughness. Sakuraba would have won on decision, but that was a great finish.

The Gracies had massive respect for him. He pointed out flaws in their system. No Gracie fought Sakuraba in gi after he clowned Royce. Royce had to juice up hard for his rematch, and Ralek was 16 yrs younger.

Kazushi Sakuraba trained in BJJ under Enson Inoue in 1996, before any of his fights with Gracies. He later trained again under Sergio Penha, after his fights with Gracies. The defeats of the Gracies to him - were not failures of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
