@@garlandpoolfredpool Oh yes the screaming Pride lady lol...I couldn't understand what she was saying half the time but she bring so much energy...Miss her. Miss the intelligent Japanese crowd who applauded like they were watching a play at every good jiu jitsu transition, miss the entrances, miss the lighting, miss the fact that everyone had unique outfits that represented their style and country, miss the Pride music after every win and confetti, miss the camera work that made you feel like you were right in the action...Hell even miss the red cards even though fighters hated it it made them ramp up the action when things got boring

@@truthreignsforever9286 Well Pride was already dieing because Japan cracked down on the Yakuza who were funding Pride big time. Along with the crackdown they lost alot of sponsors who didnt want to be associated any longer because of the controversy so Zuffa saw their opportunity to move in for a good price.

When I was 16 I had a grappling match and a kickboxing match the same night (both being my first ever).. I won my grappling match @135lbs at the time I beat the #3 ranked at the time in NM.. Needless to say I had my kickboxing fight a few hours later.. Bro I was still so tired it wasn't even funny.. Well I won by default because the other fighter didn't show.. Point being that's crazy this dude went and fought twice and won like that.. Savage

It has everything to do with the fact that it was a Japanese owned company and the respect that a Japanese audience has for its gladiators of any combat sport. The fighters would tell you that its a completely different atmosphere because your average Japanese audience has a higher fight IQ than most so there was an incentive to put on the best match for the audience. Now, if a fight goes to the ground for 30 seconds, the crowd starts booing. Mostly bc they dont understand the fight on a technical level to appreciate whats actually happening.

This is true and why I wish top boxers would do the same thing Mirko did. I know the money is the main reason but it's not far fetched that a top guy from another combat sport can like you said TRANSITION to MMA. Crocop and Cung Le did it. Takes time but it worked out. But yea, money, Fury and Joshua ain't making 50 million in UFC and they are older.
