All day long, whether you know it or not, you are making a multitude of sounds that demonstrate the very great potential of your singing voice!
These involuntary sounds can be known as ‘primal sounds’.
These sounds: moans, and sighs, pleads, yawns and calls, they all change your ‘vocal set up’, shifting your vocal folds, your larynx, your vocal tract and every part of your wonderful instrument.
How can you use this to help you sing better?
Well, once we begin to observe these sounds, we can start to use them in our singing to help with high notes, low notes, belting, tone, register breaks and so much more.
In this video Rachel, Sing Space founder, shows you four common ‘primal sounds’, inspired by the work of vocal coach, Dane Chalfin, that will enable you to find four routes into four exciting new vocal styles.
This video explore the sigh, the whine, the moan (or ‘ow’) and the call using a phrase from one of our favourite songs.
We'll be exploring this and more this term at choir with 26 locations across England.
