Primal: the Awakening is a fully cooperative monster hunting miniature boardgame for 1-4 players set in a fantasy world where humans struggle to survive an untamed wilderness. The game is played in a series of multiple sessions throughout an epic campaign where you will take the role of hunters fighting monstrous creatures and unveiling mysteries about their origins.
FYI: Skip the behavior refresh in the first round. Also be sure to get that 1 struggle removal when playing a blue card in your sequence. It's easy to miss!

"The gameplay is centered on an intense and challenging boss-fight system that combines tactical positioning on the board, hand management and cooperative play. The combat is designed to be fast paced while focusing on card combos and player interaction. Each monster is a unique challenge that hunters will have to face as a group, completing specific objectives and adopting different strategies. Monsters have their own specific deck of cards which represents their specific combat behavior including attacks targeting specific areas on the board, special abilities, but also weaknesses and vulnerabilities that hunters can take advantage of during combat.
The game also focuses on a deep character customization. As the campaign progresses, players will unlock a large variety of crafting options as they upgrade and expand the Forge depending on the specific monsters they slay.
As the hunters level up from session to session, players will also have multiple choices to customize their deck of ability cards in order to build better synergies, card combos and group strategies."

Thanks for the video. I’m loving this game, I hope you are too! One rules error I noticed….on the first turn you don’t refresh the monster behaviour cards. Are you going to do a campaign? If so, are you going to record it and upload? Would love to see you do a full campaign run!

Good catch! I was using a round summary that didn’t mention that (which is odd). So it slipped the mind at the time. 😄 I’m going to be playing the campaign off camera. I don’t plan to do it on camera but who knows! Maybe if there is enough interest I’ll consider it. 😄👍🏼

I maybe misremembering, but I thought it said in the rules you don’t do behaviour refresh on turn 1? I am really enjoying this game and I love seeing how other people tackle the puzzle that is the monsters. I haven’t started a full on campaign yet (can’t find the time!) but I hope too soon. I’d love to see your campaign if you can make it work, but if not, some expeditions to see how you utilise the characters would be awesome. Thanks for the great videos, keep up the great work 😊

I don’t think you removed a struggle token on Thorags first turn when you played the blue card into your sequence. All blue cards played into sequence always remove a struggle.

Good eye! Mentioned in pinned comment and in Finale. That’s the one thing I miss occasionally to my own detriment. I find it a bit fiddly to manage struggle tokens during initial card play into sequence. That’s my one gripe with this game. At least my miss makes the game harder not easier. 😜

@@RollingSoloyep! There are a lot of things to keep in mind when playing this game. I find running two characters actually a lot harder to do in this game than other games just because there are so many triggers and different things you can do on top of everything the monster does that it’s a lot to keep in your mind.

It’s true! The fun part of playing with two is not getting too much tunnel vision on one character going and then the next. Cards can be played out of turn to help out. Opens lots of doors for strategy when it’s needed!
