PA should have went 4x on it to have a little better eye box and FOV, and adopted a T1/T2 footprint instead of mini acog for more flexible and abundant mounting options. Hopefully they introduce a GLX 4x, with great glass lending a much more forgiving eye box and yet even better eye relief, getting rid of the rheostat wheel to make it even less "snaggy" and streamlined.

Great Content and keep up the good work! This video sealed the deal for me on picking up the PA 5x Micro Prism. I wanted a LPVO, but with the chunk that is a Jakl 308 I really wanted a decent amount of magnification and cut some weight. I was curious about your comments about unlocking a new method of aiming. I was thinking you were describing the brain superimposing the full reticle image from the dominant eye which is nothing new with both eyes open. Depending what I focus on I can jump from left eye to right eye and see the reticle. The image presented is definitely something a little different and the chevron has to be lit up and red for it to work for me. When I tilt my head (nose down) like 3 degrees my dominant right eye's image is almost completely gone. I have a very slight translucent indication of the scope body, but only a floating red chevron is in my left eye's view. Very weird and cool. Thank you for pointing that out!

@@tworr3682 thank you! We notice funny things when we start to look through scopes enough. Yep, that’s exactly what I was describing here. Let me know how it ends up working in the field or range for you!

Damn near everyone says C-Does has the best optic reviews, but I disagree. Yours are undoubtedly the best. Not to discredit c though, he's got great comparison footage.

Hey man, I appreciate that. C_Does is part of the reason I got into this. His stuff is absolutely solid and even leaves room for viewers to think through what they saw.

The ACSS Raptor m8m is the same holds on istrelok and the BDC is dropping off on purpose to maintain cone of fire on target, also the chevron does anything but obstruct, in order to maintain the same speed you would need a 5 moa dot or horse shoe dot that obstructs in low light, great video
@FlatlanderGear Жыл бұрын
That cone of fire integration is quite interesting… I’ll need to try that out and test it. I may do a video on simulating this

Love the videos! I just finished building my first 16" AR and wanted to try out a microprism with a piggyback red dot combo. Do you think the Vortex Spitfire Gen II 5x, with a similar configuration from your Spitfire video (GLx Mount + EGW Adapter Mount), is a better value (assuming I purchased the Spitfire for $200 from PSA) than the PA 5X Microprism at MSRP?
@FlatlanderGear Жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you want to go piggyback, I think the Vortex solution is stronger. If you want to run back up sights and want to dial in the correct height right away, the Microprism is a more flexible system. The T1/T2 mounts just don’t quite sweep back as far as the Microprisms do. Vortex has a wider field of view, more flexible eyebox, and better optical optical coloration, PA has a better reticle and clicks for longer distances and is a lot better for both eyes open shooting if you aren’t running a piggyback.
@FlatlanderGear Жыл бұрын
It looks like a tough choice but I’d say try the vortex to see if you like 5X magnification for your setup. If it works well for you, you keep it, if you want to dive down the rabbit hole later, you can always exchange the 5X Spitfire for the PA when you have more cash saved up later. You win and learn new things either way.
@foo8201 Жыл бұрын
@@FlatlanderGear Thank you so much for the amazing insight and advice! I'll do just that and start with the Vortex. There's so much to learn. I definitely need to have more of an understanding of height over bore when using the piggyback setup. Looking forward to future content!

Let's say i want to save up and become more efficient before purchasing a TA11 - VSF or PA5X? Or should i go down to their 3x options?
@FlatlanderGear Жыл бұрын
Depends on your budget, desired FOV and weight tolerance. TA11 is easy to use and durable but the heaviest and most expensive. The 3X MP has the largest FOV but is not the most durable. The 3X Gen IIi is durable, has a great sight picture but is a little heavy. The 2.5X doesn’t have the best FOV but it’s got good glass, is very durable, and not very expensive. I’m quite fond of my 2.5X if I were to go to the 3X range… I’ll put it this way too. It’s depends on your eyes and intended range. If your not doing long range regularly like me, 2.5, 3X, and 3.5X are more than adequate and can be used faster at short distances.
@MegaMoose762 Жыл бұрын
@FlatlanderGear the prism rabbit hole is literally the worst. Red dots and lpvos are a lot easier to pin point what direction to go in. I have a PA 1x , and it's cool, but i just started shooting to distance and i kind of want to make a "m27 at home" w/o selling my kidney on tor. Regardless, great videos and A1 takes.

How is the eye relief and eye box compared to the vortex? If they’re both equally bad I might lean to vortex but if vortex is even worse than pa then idk

@@FlatlanderGear thanks man. Really seems like pa is paying the price in the reviews for cutting corners on this one. Could have been a great optic if they worked more on glass quality and direct mounting. I thought I’d be instantly buying this but I doubt I will now. Learned my lesson on buying optics before you’re even ready to mount and use them. Bought the old pa 3x and the new micro came out before I even had my rifle together. And it was meant to be a lightweight build 🤦🏼♂️
