He's using one of the divisibility rules to check if 75 is divisible by 3. If the sum of a numbers digits is divisible by 3, then that number is divisible by 3. The sum of the digits for 75 is 7+5=12 Since 12 is divisible by 3, the original number, 75, is also divisible by 3.

You state that you add up the numbers 2 and 5 to see if it is divisible by to (it is seven, and it is not). But 25 is divisible by five, but there seven is not. So I'm not quite sure how that "adding" check works.

@ismile4fun13 no it isn't. sal explains in the "prime numbers" video that primes are divisible by exactly two [different] numbers. since 1 is only divisible by one number (the number 1), it isn't prime.
