I drive for Prime also. I’m concerned about the inward facing cameras too! How about we have cameras following all management and support staff ( day and night , and the drivers can watch ? Doubt they’d like that idea!

Somethings remain private, others do not. What would people think if our state government started mandating it for all driver citizens? Don’t think it would go over well for obvious reasons. And it shouldn’t. It’s for insurance rates to save money, that is it.

My company has inward facing camera too. I don’t like it but it’s not a deal breaker. Only way to not deal with it is to be an owner opp.

I want to say as a woman I don't want that because what if I am not driving resting and someone is watching me that is creepy what if it is to hot and I get naked in my own time and don't forget about hackers also watching too my personal space nooo nope I don't like it at all

It wouldn't surprise me if they did consider it. Companies have this big problem of claiming drivers are professionals but treating them like children with mass punishment. Another example of this was the Personal Conveyance kerfuffle a few months back. Instead of punishing drivers who abuse PC they were going to roll out having to call logs to get it unlocked on your Elogs.

I strongly agree with the outward camera. Back when I drove before I had a bad accident that I got blamed for, back then they didn't have camera's. I wished they would have cause it would have shown what really happened and I wouldn't have been to blame but because of me being a professional driver I got the blame. As for the inward facing camera I don't see how prime could put them in because a sleeper truck is your house while on the road. I would think that would be invasion of privacy. And most inward facing camera's have voice recording, what about the husband and wife team drivers or a solo driver that has they're significant other on the truck. But when I come to Prime I will have my own foward facing and side facing on each side of the truck for my own protection.

You're 100% right about the camera thing as I've experienced an AI camera myself (think it was lynx) Horrible experience. U feel like a prisoner (less than) and always questioning what u do.. if u reached for something like sunglasses, drinking, eating, checking time on your phone will ding u, etc. Never again! Also, How is it an insurance discount if most Mega's are self insured? They're the insurance company so how are they getting a discount? I think it has more to do with them getting leverage in a court case. So they can prove their driver wasn't distracted in an accident. That being said i can see that working against them if the driver actually was distracted. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

You need to search out better information. Prime does not have outward facing cameras currently. Overreacting to something like this is not good. Have you thought about how many people your video could affect with misinformation.

Some trainers tell their students that there are front facing cameras (so they drive more alert). Idk if that’s what’s happening here lol, but there is a very small group of drivers that Prime is testing front facing cameras with. I probably don’t mind them, but absolutely against driver facing.

I know this is a year old, but they literally just announced it on May 10th, outward and inward cameras coming to every single truck in the fleet.

It’s not the DAB that’s considering cameras of any kind. It’s Prime senior management. There are many factors driving this- our CSA score and the fact that within 5 years companies won’t be able to buy insurance if they don’t have a camera program in place

Amazon has driver facing cameras. Big brother is always watching you. But in a sleeper cab precautions definitely need to be taken if they are going this route.

Thats too bad cuz prime was a nice company. I refuse driver facing cameras. I like to sing in my truck and talk to myself and pick my nose - whatever! I dont want people catching me doing all that just cuz i got cut off and hit my brakes. GTFOH.

camera facing out is a great ideal , to protect the driver and the company, But the inward facing cameras no way , that is a invasion of the driver's personal space, and as a professional driver, we do not need a babysitter 24\7 . were not babies , if they start this crap these companies are going to suffer in the long run, they are going to lose good drivers that have been their for years , The companies are already know about you in your background check before they hired you to drive for them, so why do you need to see what is going on in the cab of the truck for, most drivers this is their home and what they do in the cab of of their truck is no ones business, as long as the driver does not cause accidents and put anyone or anything in danger , this how i feel about this , I been a driver for 22 yrs is their upgrade to the black boxes, ,

I think it is a great idea, just to keep drivers honest. If you know a camera is watching, you will be less likely to pick up a phone and start texting. I do think, if they implement this into their trucks, there should be a way to cover the camera up, while you are not driving. Me myself, I don’t care. If they really want to watch me naked, then they can enjoy the show, I guess, but it is weird if they want to watch somebody sleep. I think it would be great if they could program it kind of like a backup camera, except, when the truck is parked, it cuts the power to the camera. When the truck, is put back in gear, the camera turns on.

If you run under someone's Authority and if they require a camera, you gotta put a camera in. Do i like the camera idea, No way. But, all companies are headed that way. Only way to avoid them in the next few years is to be a true owner op with your own Authority.
