Hey Brandon. Been watching your vids since the first Traverse one you presented us with. Had my attention ever since. I myself am a tinkerer of all bow things. Currently shooting the RX 7 Ultra, along with the Elite Remedy, Bowtech Realm X and Reckoning 35. I had a Prime Black 5 for a short while. Haven't shot the Inline 5, and maybe it will stay that way. I found one thing no one talks about Primes. When you raise the nocking point on the string, it makes the string angle more acute. ( they act like ATA minus 2 inches). At my 31"ish draw length, it is very noticeable. Enjoy your bow this upcoming season. Keep those videos coming, and as always, shoot straight.
@Waty84132 жыл бұрын
5:13 My guess would be that it allows them to use the same, exact cam components on multiple bow models without worrying about the draw length marked on the cam matching the real life draw length of a particular model. Position 5 might be 28" on model A but 29" on model B. I could see this being the case if they have two similar models with different riser lengths. Disclaimer: I'm too lazy to check Prime's website so what I just said might not be relevant at all.
@Dad_N_Eli2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. That’s why a lot of manufactures do that.
@brandonmcdonald61212 жыл бұрын
That makes sense but This year all the draw lengths on the bows are the same. 26 through 30.5. I just figured “A” was always going to be 30.5.
@garywuollet58662 жыл бұрын
@@brandonmcdonald6121 I believe that the draw length will depend on the brace height. If you use the same cam with the same rotation at different brace height, the draw length range would be different. With a 6" brace you could have a range of 25"to 30" for example and the same cams on a 7" brace would be 26"to 31". That would presume the same rotation. This is my understanding.

Hearing you talk about the Prime's misses at distances vs. your Bowtech reminds me of missing with a QAD rest at long distances vs. a quality limb driven rest. No matter how dialed I could get a bow, and match grade my arrows are, that QAD rest will make my groups at 60+ unsatisfactory.

The thumbnail gives me the vision of a pro shop owner who trims serving and d loops exclusively with his cigar. Maybe this guy even christens customers' new bows with some scotch. Arrow shafts are garnished with a dab of cigar ash then sealed. The shop is called "The Archer's Apothecary" or Huntsman's Guild.

As a retired Engineer, with a keen interest in compound bow hunting and bow design/performance, I have, from the very outset, been perplexed at the seemingly endless focus on peripheral issues, that can actually or might effect accuracy, but the single, by far most important fundamental factor, is rarely addressed. That factor is bow torque that is innate or integral to the specific bow design; hereinafter refered to as "Integral Bow Torque" or "IBT". Suffice to say, archers are well aware of the importance of proper technique in gripping, or should I say, supporting, the bow, so as to avoid torquing the riser, but, ironically, IBT is regularly never mentioned at all, in bow reviews. Archers and hunters who are not Engineers have sought to argue that IBT is not a problem, because it generates the same, consistant bow structure response, during each draw/ release cycle. This is profoundly misguided, frankly wrong, reasoning. The ability of any projectile based weapon to consistantly send the projectile to the point of aim, across all range distances, requires that the stucture supporting the energised projectile, supports, but does not impose lateral or vertical forces on the projectile throughout the projectiles path out of the supporting structure. In the case of compound bows, the key points of support for the projectile/arrow are the rest and nock point. It is therefore obvious, that maximum consistant accuracy can only occur when nock travel has neutral lateral and neutral vertical movement after release from full draw. Just as important is that the arrow rest does not exhibit lateral (horizontal plane) rotation, that can cause lateral forces on the arrow shaft. There is no avoiding these realities other than by seeking to deny them. Thus it is of course possible to adjust nock height, rest position and, most significantly, sight pin settings, to consistantly compensate for IBT at a specific range distance. Thus, I can get any number of bows to group tightly, group after group, at say 20 yards. However, the IBT will always introduce innate, incrementally greater inaccuracy at any longer distances. Unfortunately, many archers/ hunters, failing to take IBT into account, spend many, many wasted hours on peripheral factors. Bow manufactures are aware of the importance of IBT but seek to ignore it. The only manufacturer I have observed openly, but briefly, acknowledging its importance was G5 Prime. So before you waste more money and time on speculating over peripheral stuff, sweat on IBT and let bow manufacturers know you're expecting future models to have zero IBT and zero vertical nock travel after release from full draw.

Can't. Not. Chime. In.... BowTech makes one cam for one bow style. They can add numbers to those cams as they're the only cam options and draw length. Prime has several ATA lengths with the same cam. Different bow means different draw length for the same cam module.
@brandonmcdonald61212 жыл бұрын
I want you to chime in!!! I thought about that too but they’re all 26-30.5 this year. I assume “A” is still 30.5 and so on. I could be wrong, and you know I’m just willing to say stuff and live with the consequences!

I have a custom take down recurve. I shoot it pretty well, especially for bowfishing. Something about how the grip & balance of the Prime feels when I shoot it is just reminds me of that recurve. Smooth & simple. I did have a Prime with a 6" brace height that was a beast & the draw cycle wasn't as smooth as my new Nexus 4. Just like everything on their bows since the Centergy is different than most bows. I still have my Centergy. I believe the retired engineer that tested bows with a draw board & laser never found one better than it. It's a pretty cool experiment.

just put an automotive rubber O-ring over the limb stops. They have a groove in them that captures and holds the O- ring. In fact Elite sells a kit with colour coded different thickness O-rings (1.5mm diameter up to 4mm) that give you different feel of the back wall and allow micro adjust of the valley depth too.

@@brandonmcdonald6121 The torx screws are used in the rotating mods of some other manufacturers as in the Evolve Cams from PSE. In the hexagonal shape of an allen screw the force of the allen key or allen screwdriver isn't applied in a perfect perpendicular 90º slant against the inner wall of the hexagon, but with a slight slant. That slant makes some force loses and favours the potential damage of the tool or the screw. The star shape of the torx is designed to align the key or tool against the inner wall of the screw at perfect 90º, so there's minimal loses in the force applied and both the screw and the tool retain their integrity for longer.
