Yeah but this show isn’t exactly very historical. I mean no offense, but 1st: How exactly could the Axis inflict a defeat on the allies? The Soviet Union destroyed German ground forces from 1943 and so on, the British fleets obliterated the German Air Force (which ceased to exists sometime around 1945), and the U.S. out produced the Germans, and was able to keep the aforementioned nations going. The Japanese fleet was completely outmatched by the U.S.’s, and their ground forces had been bogged down in China for years, and the Japanese Air Force was nothing to gawk at. Second: Let’s, hypothetically, Germany achieves total victory in Europe. How in the bloody hell does the Kriegsmarine reach the U.S? Or the Japanese fleet, for that matter? The Japanese fleet was broken at Midway, and was forever impaired, and the Kriegsmarine had been severely damaged by the British. But, let’s say, they manage a naval invasion. Somehow, the combined strength of German and Japanese fleets are able to overwhelm the U.S’s, and ground troops have landed. So now they have no airplanes with them, hundreds of thousands of fresh U.S. Mexican and Canadian troops batter the exhausted German ones, who have just come out of brutal war against the Ruskies. How exactly are they gonna win this? Finally, let’s say that, somehow, they conquer North America. How do the Japanese and Germans manage to exert their influence and strength on these three nations? So now major resistance movements are occurring on 5 different continents (Oceania, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia), and what, the Axis have the money and resources to control that? No chance in hell! TL;DR: The show is bad alt-history, with far better versions. But it is just a show (a very rubbish one at that).

Great show, just one problem: I don’t think the Nazis would refer to themselves as “Nazis” or to their empire as the “Greater Nazi Reich.” “Greater German Reich” or just “The Reich,” perhaps, but “Nazi” was a western pejorative for them that was derived from the word Nationalsozialistische from their formal name, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. At best they’d refer to themselves as national socialists, but I doubt that they’d adopt the very word that was intended as an insult into the naming of their empire and culture.

I loved this show. Too bad Amazon cancelled the 5th season of the show. (btw, if any of you think that the ending felt rushed, it was. Amazon gave them a time crunch). I really wanted to see more especially John Smith. He was such an interesting and tragic character.

As much as I like this show, the novel "Fatherland" laid out a more realistic scenario in which the Nazis explode a nuclear device near NYC as a warning to America to give up and let Germany have Europe and Russia while the Americans go on to defeat Japan.

This recap was very helpful. It's been so long since season 2 (over a year and a half) that I had already forgotten parts of the plot. Now I feel back on track. Major allied victories in our timeline end differently in this world. Midway is a Japanese victory, Pearl Harbour does a lot more damage, and D-Day is a fail. The reason we don't see Italy in the show is just because of lazy writing from Amazon.
