Primochill Vue - Easy to Clean?

It's been 12 months that I've been running my system with Primochill Vue fluid. There is a lot of controversy about using opaque fluids because of sediment buildup. But I couldn't resist the awe-inspiring fluid as my long-term coolant. Though I've not yet noticed any thermal changes, sediment buildup is evident. Can it be clean by flushing and cleaning with Primochill Reboot cleaner alone, or will I have to take the system apart? How much of a hassle will it be? Watch the video and find out!

Just cleaned mine over the past week I have yellow it was easy to clean and the plates seemes to be really clean the only difference was the actual "vue" was gone and it was just yellow. I find it ironic both of us left it for a year lol Thanks for sharing

Just put some of this in my system, it's not nearly as bad. I just use distilled water and XSPC Clear UV coolant concentrate. I had a little gunk buildup in one loop, but replaced all the parts but the radiator, so we'll see how long before or if I even get any more gunk buildup.

Hey James, loved your videos of this build and the follow-up. Since the first run was a new build, how has the Vue held up for the second fill since you posted this video?

Thanks Jake for the positive comments. I love the Vue. My first fill lasted a good year, the second only about 6-8 months before it got sludgy. I am now on a 3rd batch and 8 months in looks good. I have not had any concerns about build up in the water blocks for any of the batches, only changing them because of aesthetics (build up of sludge in the reservoirs). I regularly watch my fluid temps and at worst (when my son plays for hours on video-card heavy graphic games) temps never get above 63-65 deg C (CPU heavy tasks similar). I regularly get gasps of awe from guests when I fire up the system. Nevertheless, it does require yearly upkeep ( it takes me a weekend to drain, clean and refill the system). Hope that helps if you're considering trying Vue.

@@007triman Thanks for the reply. I've heard a lot of horror stories, but definitely tempted to give it a go. I suspect the glass tubing maybe part of your success. If you don't mind me asking, I have two questions: Did you do any special preparation to your loop before loading the coolant (such as a primer or blitz)? Do you leave your machine on all day or use sleep mode or shutdown when it's not in use?

@@McGuirk808 No problem Jake. I used the PrimoPrep that comes with each bottle of Vue - check the website, but I think you need to drain and rinse out your previous fluid (possibly requiring their System Reboot fluid), then use Primoprep for 72 hours, drain and rinse with distilled water then replace with Vue. I shut down my system when not in use - another factor besides the glass I use is that I generally don't have this computer on more than 2-3 hours per day. Good luck with whatever you choose - and I hope you post videos!

12 months? Vue has a shelf life of 6 months

I'm sure you're correct. I wanted to see how long I could push it. I thought what was still suspended in solution still looked good after 12 months, with deposits as you can see in the video.

did you notice the average temps changing much over the year? would you do it every 6 months instead to save hassle or do you think it wouldnt matter as much
@007triman

I did not see temps changing over the year. It was the visual build-up of deposits on the reservoir cylinders that was the first sign I needed to attend to the fluid. You ask an interesting question about frequency of cleaning - would doing it more often be less of a hassle? Maybe rinsing the system (draining the fluid, rinsing with distilled water, then running a detergent like "Reboot" for a couple of days, followed by more rinsing) would obviate the need to take out and scrub the water-blocks with a brush, but I feel the rinsing was the major pain (probably because of my loops not draining well), and taking off the water-blocks was not very difficult.

@@007triman On your next build I bet you will pay closer attention to leaving yourself a way to drain easily? I recommend switching to flexible tubing in the back of the case. This way you can install any number of ways to drain easier, and you have to cut less hard tubing. I've never done glass tubing but I think I will on my next build. The plastic hard tubing always looks plastic and isn't perfectly straight. That glass tubing is on point!

Hey quick question is it true this case comes integrated with RGB fusion ready, aura sync and mystic light?
@007triman
@007triman 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay - the case does have its own RGB lights, but I'm not sure what the software is that runs it - there is a dial on the front panel you can rotate and press that alters the color and display pattern, but you can also control the case lights with certain motherboard software. I have an Aorus motherboard and I find the Aura Sync to be a hassle, so I just use whatever Phanteks software came with the case.
