These 'tank' builds safe between lance, charge blade & gunlance? (just swap weapon.) or need to really swap armor pieces.

I neglected lance the whole game until this fight. I couldn't beat him with any weapon besides lance. I ended up picking it up and it became my secondary. Looks like it'll be my main in Wilds since they gutted the insect glaive 😢
