The propane burners was so much easier to use and maintain, so the practically killed the usage of paraffin and gasoline blowtorches.

Lampoil or diesel oil in the tank ?

Kerosene (paraffine), lamp oil is for lamps with a wick, and diesel is made for diesel engines. However, it would run on both in the short run, even if long term effects are uncertain.

There is supposed to be a lighting tank/tray which fits in the hole under the rear of the body which you fill with meths,, not the depression which is there to catch any spills from the tank. It will burn there briefly if you spill some meths, but the way you are doing it seems dangerous to me, as you are heating the tank, and perhaps vaporizing the kerosene in the tank which you don't want to do. .

No, I'm sorry but you are wrong :-) The tray beneath the burner you mention was introduced on this model in the early 60's (maybe late 50's) to make the preheating procedure quicker by concentrating the heat to the burner, but before that (and certainly not in 1923 when this one was made) there was no preheating tray. All the preheating is supposed to take place in the depression in the tank, as shown in my video. The few minutes of fire on top of the tank will not heat the fuel so much that it will be vapourised. In fact, the slightly warmed keronsene will make the blowlamp run smoother from the start, since the vapouriser does not have to do "all the job" when the lamp is burning. All the torches I've seen here have had the tray, (in the early days, every plumber had one, - my grandfather was a builder and he used one to burn the paint off his house to re-paint it every 7yrs, and he taught me how to light it in the early 60s) mine is a Sievert which I bought in the early 70s) Great handy tool, (and it's cordless!) @@tomastomas75 How many cordless appliances will still be around in 76 more years. I'm still keeping all my hand woodworking tools as well,-just in case! Try using your battery drills etc when there are power cuts. How did the old builders ever manage without power tools,? My grandfather never owned one and he built hundreds of houses. The worst thing with battery tools is the pollution from dead batteries,- absolutely millions of them worldwide,-same with electric car batteries. What are they going to do with them all?,-can't recycle dead lithium batteries without specialist plants.

There are blowtorches designed for gasoline, and blowtorches designed for kerosene. Different designs, different fuel :-)

@@jonassx100, I would absolutely not try running it on any other fuel than what it is designed for. This one is designed for kerosene and it should run on kerosene. Nothing else.

I just bought a new one ut not managed to get it work continous , ,it just keep shutting off aftfer 20 - 30 seconds its 2 Pint tank and i am filling 1/4 of it . I also bought Primus and it is working like charm

@@jonassx100, as long as it is not more than 75% full, it should run until empty. But, with less fuel in the tank you will have to compensate by pumping more air into it to reach the pressure needed to feed fuel through the burner.
