When I was growing up, we were DIRT POOR!!!!!! I was too busy being hungry to like music. But when I turned 15, I suddenly started listening to Prince. I have no idea what song turned me onto Prince. At age 15, I was listening to Prince 7 days & nights EVERY SINGLE WEEK. I listened to his album PURPLE RAIN on a small tape player using headphones. I listened to every song on the purple rain album as I slept. TO THIS DAY, I can sing that ENTIRE ALBUM VERBATUM PERFECTLY. . .

As we true Prince fans know, he was a big fan/supporter of the great Larry Graham. In this particular set of recordings, I can hear the Larry Graham influence VERY strongly. Prince was the master of incorporating many musical influences into his own style...not merely copying them. He truly is one of the rarefied, generational musical geniuses of all time. Unmatched and unrivaled.

Proof of genius with great sound. Outstanding "power to capture the times" can be felt in sounds like "Earth Wind & Fire" or "Azymuth". Feeling the early Prince's seeds, this album deserves to impress us, even if it's not an official release. I pray for gratitude and a good night's sleep for the happiness and his existence that I was able to live in the same age as him. From warm spring Japan. Love&Peace

I like how he stretches out the guitar solo on My Love Is forever. I was working in a record store when For You came out. I jumped on it because the brother on the cover looked to be my age. Little did I know at the time what he would become. And to think, he was launching one of the greatest careers in music history while I was just being a teenager. WB should release all of his albums with these extra tracks that weren't on the originals. CW, I don't know how you do what you do but DON'T STOP!

Also...during his early years the record label made him lie about his age and say he was younger than he really was, to push him as 'teen idol star' or whatever. (that's why it says 17 yo in that Warner pic in vid) This among other tensions started his animosity and sometimes outright hatred towards the Music industry. He fought with them all his life (and also why he changed name into symbol). Funny tho cuz in a sense the music industry created an enemy they couldn't stop or control because Prince was too good

Thank u so much for the uploads. truly enlightening. I will mourn & celebrate this man for the rest of my life. Fun fact: For the 1st 2 albums prince sang the entire albums in his falsetto. He once said he didn’t think ppl would like his lower register. It wasn’t until Dirty Mind that he started to develop his style in tonality at the mid & lower parts of his voice. To my knowledge it wasn’t until ‘I Love U In Me’ the b side to ‘Batman’s’ ‘The Arms Of Orion’ that Prince sang in a more natural Baritone. Anyway just sharing. Rest In Peace brother. Miss u xx

In 1978 one of my best friends told me there was a teenage my age that just released his LP and produced it and played every instrument on new LP, and I said "No Way" because EW&F was my favorite group and they had 15 musicians, including the Phoenix horns. He gave me Prince's LP to lesson too, and I immediately fell in love with Prince Rogers Nelson (and I am a hederal sexual man). I couldn't do anything but lesson to Prince. Damn, this was the most talented musician in the world at the time. When I finally saw him on American Band Stand, I said I wanted to also be a musician. I will always love P and believe 100 percent that Warner Brothers Record had Prince murdered to get his masters back and this vault music.

14歳の時にFor Youのアルバムを聴いた時の衝撃を思い出しました! 初期の彼は純粋にFunckyでした。 演奏はまだ洗練されていなかったけど大好きでした!

This album is timeless. Still holds up...his days of innocence and before he went in another direction with Dirty Mind. This album is solid!

Track 5 makes me feel more Prince's dirty essence than released version, especially from 2nd verse to chorus is it! But he might have thought it was too much and decided to record this song again then...

The 7th track ‘Instrumental’...tooo smooth 👏🏾😌😌, its like this dude could see the notes/chords in his mind before laying them down...only but few artists have this type of skill u cant teach, its a gift to have...MJ had it, and Kanye also has it 😅🙌🏾 (Believe it or not)
