I’m Canadian and I agree… you’re meeting your potential future in-laws… who happen to be second in line for the throne, and you meet them in ripped jeans and barefoot? It’s rude. It would be rude if you were ‘commoners’ like the rest of us. That was a power play by Meghan, to show that she wasn’t threatened or impressed with William and Kate, and was à deliberate snub. From the jump Harry should have realized she wasn’t even trying to be civil to his family. She already had alienated her own family and she was determined to do it to his as well. I’m surprised Meghan admitted to doing that… it exposes her more than the Wales’

Quite right! It was very rude from Meghan to welcome her sister and brother in law - whom she was meeting for the first time - with ripped jeans and bare foot. She was hosting the party in central London, not at the beach. Did she gave them forks and knives or were they supposed to eat with their hands? She has no good manners and does not even seem to be aware of that

It could have been as simple as MM not realising trendy clothes are not appropriate for the RF. My niece is the same age as MM. She has a pair of jeans that are ripped near the knees and wears them alot. They are all the rage. And if she came to my house for dinner she would probably wear them, and I would have no shoes on. I hate wearing shoes in the house. The noise on the floor annoys me. But we aren't royalty. Her hugging them nope. Over the years my son has bought home a few girlfriends. I never hugged any of them except for his now wife. The others came and went. Always polite but I wouldn't want someone jumping on me either.

@@mireille4751 How is it rude to meet someone while you are wearing ripped jeans? That is not rude. That is someone who is in a casual simple way of thinking. She probably thought that she wanted a chilled out evening. It would be rude if she wore her pyjamas. It would also be rude if she wore short shorts and a belly top. Then I could understand people's shock. I'm sure she had no malice in her to try offend the hoity-toity top class royals. Who Megan probably thought this is my boyfriend / husband's brother. It's not a snub.
@marblehead2500
@marblehead2500 Жыл бұрын
@@sandracrosbie8468 it depends on the context but she herself framed it as the very first time she was meeting her in-laws at her dinner invitation. So much more than hanging out. I’d have worn a simple dress or skirt, even if casual. Jeans, ripped or not, are a tad too casual, but ultimately it’s fine if they all got on well. I think the trouble is whether it’s even a true story at all or told strategically to show her “authenticity” and to play to her gullible followers. Painting the Wales as uptight or snobs is unfair of her, and she does it over and over to benefit her own image and purposes.

Yes, the coordinated outfits,; will add another observation. Camilla wore WHITE, showing that the Queen Consort chose the bland color, contrary to what Meghan said, and all the other women chose the BRIGHT COLOR, wine/red.. OPPOSITE to what Meghan said about the "head" wearing the bright colors. YES, they were making a statement. GOOD FOR THEM. Meghan's betrayal of Harry's family is unforgivable. BONDS of a family need acceptance and patient work, not blatant attacks from a usurping outsider like Meghan Markle, hell bent on self promotion to the exclusion of the bonds between a spouse's family.

I rolled my eyes then, fully believing her innocence was likely not a good fit for Charles. I don't think anybody treated Diana well, including Charles. I don't think she was a saint, I've read things that suggest she was a bit of a mental hot mess. BUT.... I want Charles to be happy. Happy New Year - what a year 2022 was!! I sure hope we don't have as much of Tessa in the new year. Honestly I wish people would knock it off about Charles and Camilla. We can't look into the past and demand that they should have acted as though it was now or they are attacked. The expectations of the 70's were what they were at that time. How many people do any of us older than 30 know who didn't marry the love of their life, due to whatever circumstances -- and chose someone they felt was a good match, hoping it would all work out. And it didn't. I can think of several in my own circle of friends. Charles and Diana were completely incompatible, at a time when he was getting constant criticism for promoting issues like the environment - she was focused on attention and fashion. Even without Camilla there is a very low chance that the marriage would have lasted any longer than it did. Good for him that he eventually was able to marry the woman who truly loved and supported him. Diana was lovely in many ways and may well have found her feet and the right partner eventually - so its not to put her down, but......

That means I never hugged my father or he never hugged me by entire years of growing up when he got to be really old and I was back home to visit he looked at me and said vilda I've never hugged you so I'm gonna give you a hug no we Norwegians show our love in different ways we do not show our love by hugging people a lot we are stoic it's true and I think there's some stoicism within the English monarchy as well. I have friends who are Italian and they're always yelling and hugging each other all the time and even I watched them and I kind of chuckle because we Norwegians aren't like that at all. However now that I'm aware of my upbringing I try to hug someone when I think they need a hug because there's nothing wrong with hugging it's a cultural thing is how we are brought up.

@ brigidine. Youth and beauty are temporary and will fade with time. Charles and Diana had nothing in common. He was more intellectual, concerned about the environment, involved with organic farming sustainability, the young people in his Prince’s Trust etc etc., she was interested in fashion, looking glamorous, being social with celebrity friends and being admired and loved by the public. I can’t see any common interests or compatibility. Even if Camilla didn’t exist they would have led separate lives she in London with her fashionable friends and he in Highgrove with his gardens, farming and other country pursuits which he loved. Not much of a marriage in any event.

I honestly wish Andrew would not continue to be vilified over the I-AM-AN-ADMITTED-LIAR claims of Virginia (irony in names, no?). She earned money as a young woman to buy things she wanted and could not have otherwise afforded. Her own greed put her in situations beyond her years. Having successfully gone to the money well with her accusations once, she now figured to line her pockets again. Her credibility as victim has long since been lost.
@karenkratzer7036
@karenkratzer7036 Жыл бұрын
these two people talking about Andrew are just ridiculous. Andrew fell on his sword because he found out his mother was dying. And they didn't want to have this hanging over her last months of her life. Plus if he even went to court he was never going to get a fair trial because the judge was in the Clintons back pocket. And does it really matter who paid the settlement and it wasn't as much as these two people are saying it was. At least this Charlotte person said something must have happened behind the scenes to have him turn around in a week to settle out of court.

Lovely photos at the end, thank you. Love your show every week; Jo is a brilliant interviewer. It won't matter much to William if Camilla is Queen or not. By the time he ascends the throne, she will be very elderly (or perhaps will have already passed away), so Queen Camilla will not affect his reign, and her children are not related to him so her family will not really be a concern. MM has never understood that she will never be equal in status to Catherine.

WHO was that blonde woman next to Richard Eden? Couldn't have been Tess Dunlop, because she didn't elbow him in the ribs or club him over the head to keep him from finishing a sentence. 🤷🏽 Why the producers even bother with 'Tessa the O'Pressah' is beyond me. There must be more than just one Harkel defender in the entire UK. Get Scooby Doo the Harkle's lap dog. At least *he* is able to make a point without becoming hysterical, thrashing around in his chair, and waving his arms about like a football hooligan.

I love seeing King Charles wearing a kilt. He wears them so well. I adore William and feel confidant he will make a good king when the time comes. I only wish he would embrace the kilt for formal dress or... hiking the highlands. Does anyone wonder why women swoon over Major Johnny Thompson? Yes, he is a handsome man but it's when he stamps his foot giving his kilt a wee swirl that makes us feel faint.

I have lived in the U.S. for 20 years and from the onset realized this cultural trait of hugging upon meeting was something I would encounter repeatedly. Initially I disliked such an overly familiar advance, but eventually became accustomed to it. However someone in Meghan's position should have been made aware in advance and taught to observe the customs and accepted norms of the culture into which she had married, particularly as it related to the Royal Family!

When one woman has heard a lot of great things about another woman, especially one that's a girlfriend of a close friend or family member, then it's customary in many countries for the 2 women to hug upon meeting. If, on the other hand, the new woman has already shown signs of being a troublemaker then the other woman (Kate in this case) should rightly be cautious. As for Americans being huggers, I think that's somewhat true. It's too bad we're so politically divided, since we're mostly a friendly lot.

Even though we want to hear your discussion, we can't bear Tessa's pontificating. Are the listeners not important? Don't we make your ratings grow? There were two reasons that Andrew settled his court case. The first was that awful tv interview where he said he had a condition that he didn’t sweat ptsd, or something. The second was Harry and Meghan announcing their engagement. This was a problem because Andrew decided to call Meghan as a witness and no one wanted that to happen. They had to protect Meghan.
