there is NO mistress!!! why misinform viewers when the original storyline is quite interesting enough? this is one of my fav cdramas, and the cast has some of my fav talents.

At 33:44, it’s wonderful that these women can get along with no envy nor jealousy. Not sure if the title is correct as the ‘mistress’ in the beginning of this CDrama is a Princess. This is only a portion of a longer version.

@bxw2721 - I think it's because it's clear the other princess doesn't want to have a consummated marriage, likes the FL and also loves someone else too like the ML loves the FL. I can bet if it the other princess wanted a real marriage in every sense of it, there would be much more conflict. But I did like their friendship and their schemes with all the other wives and concubines; it was an entertaining series.

This is so sad because, here we are in 2024, where some women in the world are stoned to death for removing a headscarf and little girls are forcibly married off to old men. In most places women are ignored & put down. ts not got better for all women, in fact for most its worse. Still, at least it gave these two hope. I did love this drama, it was very cute.

If you watched this drama, you would of seen all the modern influences. She and her friends own their own business and freely roamed the streets well into the night. She has no reason to be sad when she has basically been just a roommate at her own request until just before it was decided the prince had to marry another woman.

@@Obiwantuan Actually there were countries/areas of countries where women had a lot of freedom in comparison to other areas at that time. In fact some historians have said many women had a lot of freedoms; running businesses, being the heads of families, owning land, etc until the 'church' took over (as in the Catholic church). Certainly this state was not one of them tho. Her being little more than a 'roommate' for a long time did make me laugh because that would NEVER have happened then, or now, for the noble/wealthy families. However, I absolutely agree with you on the modern touches to this drama. It's very funny and just adds to the cuteness really - because we know it's absolutely unreal.😄

@@troublemcallister730 unreal for China, but as you mentioned, in other parts of the world it was different. I do want to say in a lot of Cdramas like "Story of Minglan" the legal wife manages all of the family assets like rental properties, farms, and all financial expenses for the households even if they didn't have the freedom to wonder around town.

@@janetwittek16 - I watched a drama where the FL being whipped on the ML's orders was treated as a comedy moment when she ordered to be carried on on bed to give him divorce papers (because she was in too much pain to stand)....which he ignored. They did the same with her trying to escape him. I know it was normal at that time in history...but hell, it's NOT comedy.

@@omra777 No she wasn't. You need to watch the whole drama. He tried his best to make her his legal wife but his father the emperor wouldn't let him. Also, the princess didn't want to marry him but was force to. She stayed to train the concubine then they got a divorce and the concubine became his official wife. This is so miss leading.

The title is misleading there is no mistress. It his legal wife and his concubine. He doesn’t love his wife and she doesn’t love him. She is training the concubine on how to run things for when she leaves based on the agreement with the prince
