Crazy how Prince Paul produces three De La Soul albums, 6 Feet Deep with the Gravediggas and works with Stetsasonic and from the sounds of it still had no credit to his name in the industry. From that alone he's an absolute legend, in retrospect if you were rapping in the 90s Prince Paul should have been a man you come begging at his feet to produce an album with you. This man is hella underrated.

It's hard for some producers to let the artists grow and have control of their sound after they helped create their initial success. Same thing happened with Quincy Jones and MJ & RZA and Wu-Tang Clan.

For me, De La's sound fall off immensely after Stakes Is High. Without Prince Paul manning the boards, the tracks sounded pretty mediocre with exception of the collabos with Mos and Def & Common. And the title track of course. I'd had that album on CD for over 20 years and maybe only listened to it twice. Straight doo doo. Dumb decision not to include Prince on that. I get that they were trying to evolve their sound, but Stakes just didn't have the same feel to their original blend
