Don't be reductionist and revisionist about it, we can praise and criticize everyone at any point of their lives and death, and we should, but despite there not being censorship laws to put the royal family in a divine pedestal, it's citizens sure do put in a lot of effort into protecting their royal family from responsibility by free will. The amount of memes about his death that was made weeks before his actual death is just absolutely disgusting to see. It is extremely disrespectful and inappropriate to make jokes about someone’s eventual death. I’m perfectly fine with memes, but this is just so shameful to see. Have some respect and show some basic decency. May HRH Prince Phillip rest in peace. My condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and to the Royal Family.
