Andre Cymore interview was very good. I like that he had the opportunity to produce Jody Whatley and others. I remember the album "Dance Electric" which Andre produce himself. I like myself. I'm glad that he decided to produce another album. Let's go Andre. I'm cheering for you.

Sad that he even mentioned that he might have been the cause of his parent's divorce. I just want to tell him, kids are never responsible for the decisions of adults... it was their fault. :( Big hug. Great interview.

Prince's journey was very interesting and he saw opportunity. Andre had another vision for himself,but due to his loyalty as a friend he participated. So you see destiny and purpose is sometimes in your hands. Prince was obviously more determined to move forward early in his life. He was the one that took a leap of faith. He dived in for all of them in Mpls. In this case it worked out well. Rest Well Prince Rogers Nelson.

I feel embarrassed to say that today is the first day I’ve actually listened to André. A really cool dude- love his humour + “being loyal to his own belief with his own music + not selling out for money + fame”!!! He put his own belief before abandoning all + following the path dictated by the higher ups. The path practically all musicians fall into that looks, + is, good for a while but then destroys everything. Wish André all the best!

Insightful interview. Its a reminder that when it comes to music few people are destined to achieve fame and wealth regardless of talent and/or determination. I think that's one of the biggest differences between say, pro athletes and pro musicians: Athletes can become highly successful even if the media and the fans don't like them. Not so with musicians. Regardless of your abilities, if the media and the listeners don't promote and/or invest in your work you may still end up scrounging for food and shelter. That's just the way it is. Prince, Andre, Morris: Three talented musicians who grew up together in Minnesota, but not all three attained the same levels of fame and fortune...

Very good interview he gave some in-depth conversation about the beginning phase of Prince and Andre's relationship. I always thought Andre Cymone had a lot of talent In my opinion he shows that best in his composing and production of Jody Watley earlier music. His new music is an acquired taste these days but I wish him luck.

This was the most Innovative and the R&Baddest Funk groups in the Late 70s and 80s and I can only wish they could have stayed together for the sake of they started of together and entered the industry together ! If any of Princes songs were to be Remixed and Released then Andre Cymone , Jimmy Jam, Dez Dickerson and others that grew up with Prince should have the first crack at it straight out of the Vault before someone else do !

Prince, A,C & Dez can really play, truly great musicians. You don't pick up a Fender bass or a Les Paul if you wasn't able to stretch . Can't say much about the other three. Saw Prince in 1980 San Diego ,i think it was the Dirty Minds tour back when i was 13 , great show .Again i thought the other three member of the band was limited. . . . Great interview.

Abraham Jackson i dont really think a guy like prince would have surounded himself with limited musicians...or well they would atleast fit their part...kind of have that feeling about Lisa, bobby z's drumming does the part but it is a bit minimalistic but i think thats exactly what prince wanted at the time...to call dr fink limited is a big stretch to me though...but how ever it is with dez and ac nothing they done solo have proven to me that they would be that "great"...but all in all...prince was unique...to compare anyone with him is a dissfavor to the other person

sejdaren Ilmarinen Eddie Hazel of P-Funk , one of the greatest Axeman in history had no success as a solo artist. Commercial fame don't equate to greatest. Prince had great respect for Dez ability on guitar, in fact Dez play solo on many projects The Time, The Family and Mazzrotti. A/C had success producing other acts, Jody Watley, Adam Ant and co-written some of Prince biggest B-side hits. Fink, Lisa and Bobby are good musicians, but any average player can stay to a script.
@jimbombadill
@jimbombadill 7 жыл бұрын
its not about success...plenty of great people without it...simply the music they did solo wasnt realy good...either they ended up doing bad coppies of prince or simply just bad music...they might have had the talent to produce and so on and play their instrumments but as songwriters they realy came out limited and as nothing special...and as i said earlier comparing them with prince is just unfair to them because they arnt even close

I used to have a live bootleg of Prince, I think it was "Days of Wild". During one of the songs Prince stated that Andre Cymone used to sell crack. Unfortunately I no longer have this or I would post it here. Prince didn't tolerate drug use/trafficking by his employees. He fired Big "Chick" Huntsbury because he was using coke.

DJ Gary I don't think it's about how popular Prince was. I love the song DANCE ELECTRIC. It's great when Andre plays it but when Prince played it there was something extra that turned it from great to awesome. It's not something I can put my finger on but I've heard it many times with Prince. As one of my heroes recently said "Prince was the music"

Its interesting Andre chose another path out of loyalty.. Prince chose another path was loyal to minnesota,and his friends by helping them jump start their careers. If Prince neer made Dirty Mind he would've been drop from Warner Brothers...think about it. Prince had more insight and wanted to move forward.,and more of an opportunist.

Frankie I just think the both of them musically were headed into opposite directions i.e. like Sting and the Police, " Lionel Richie and the Commordores and last but not least Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 but this happens just about all the time when people in successful bands and singing groups decide that they want to go out on their own.. I didn't get that he was jealous at all, I do agree that his success has been limited but by the time he had done Jody Watley's lp, R&B music had taken a turn into the Teddy Riley "New Jack Swing and later on R. Kelly Bump& Grind post Public Anouncement.Granted Prince has stayed in the mix,but I think Diamonds and Pearls with NPG was the last of his best work.
