No, Prince & Rolling Stone did have a falling out, but he's on their top 100 list at #33. Prince was also inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 too, but performed to pay tribute to George Harrison's (The Beatles) induction. His son is the young man on stage standing behind Tom Petty. George Harrison also wrote this song. Prince was invited to rehearse with them, but he politely declined and said that if they would leave a spot open for him (they did to honor his induction too that year), he'd show up and give his best & he did! **The guitar was caught by one of his people & given to Oprah as a gift!

@@LG-kx8xl yeah it was a thing from the rumors around it that he was being left out but that was like in the late 90s and yeah all that transpired after he/or his circle/ fans spoke up. this was due to people saying he maybe just a "pop" artist. but it's all water under the bridge now. and credit was given where credit was due. i belive this also lead to Run DMC getting in with the help of eminem for that "rock this way" remix/ feature and what not.

Prince could have been a Hendrix level guitar god if he wanted to
@matthewdrake43854 жыл бұрын
What you mean could have been?

@@matthewdrake4385 He branched out into so much more. I think you're just looking for conflict
@matthewdrake43854 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. If he wanted to, he could have been on that level. But most people associate him with his dirty lyrics and his costumes. Those that followed him knew how talented he was. It took for after his passing for the rest of the world to see how genius he was.
@jamesdixon63323 жыл бұрын
He was and is. What do you mean "If he wanted to."? His body of work says it all.
@411fritz3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesdixon6332 Did Prince play like this on every song? Did he play guitar at all on every song?The answer is no. He didn't want to pigeon hole himself. If he wanted to be the next Hendrix he could have. Period. Learn nuance. It's a valuable life skill.

Prince said that while he was compared to Hendrix, he studied Carlos Santana. Listen to his solo and you can hear the Santana influence.

Eric Clapton was asked years ago how it felt to be the best guitar player in the world, his response was “I don’t know, you would have to ask Prince.”
@leannmiller71534 жыл бұрын
Chad Johnson this is actually an urban myth. It’s been going around, since Hendrix or Clapton supposedly said it about Phil Keaggy. Another was Hendrix saying go ask Rory Gallagher. Mark Knopfler is another one. None are true. But I see this quote all the time.

Prince didn’t even turn up for the sound check for this video, he just said to the rest of the band “don’t worry I’ll be ready.” This was one take!
@kamilahcummings18273 жыл бұрын
He showed up for the rehearsal the night before but Jeff Lynne took the solo. The producer was surprised and apologized to Prince. Prince said it was cool, not to worry he would be ready at showtime. He certainly was, but any Prince fan knows he has always ripped solos. You can hear it on his debut album.
