I was one of the cameramen on this and I can honestly say that there wasn't a dry eye in the house after the Doddie film and acceptance on stage.. I know I was blubbing, we all were, as I was this evening, in my kitchen, when I heard the news on the radio. What a man he was..

What an absolute inspiration Doddie is. It's an absolute shame that this will ultimately kill him, but he has most definitely brought much needed awareness and funds to this awful affliction that so many people suffer from.

Doddie - I don’t especially follow sports but even I understand the impact he’s left. An extraordinary legacy. And a fan in Princess Anne. As a sports woman in her own right, she is clearly fond of Doddie. When she took the award, probably thinking the Mike was off, and said, “I won’t give it to you, too heavy. Shall I hold onto it for you?”, before breaking into a delightful smile and joking, “You’re going to have to polish it!”. She genuinely looked after him on that stage. What an unlikely but amazing pair!
