Cecilie was named after her maternal grandmother Princess Cecilie of Baden who became Olga Feodorovna, which she took upon her conversion to the Orthodox faith and marriage to Grand Duke Michael Nikolaevich of Russia.

Cecilie was the daughter of Friedrich Franz III von Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Anastasia Mikhailovna Romanova to be more precise. . . Somewhere in there the fact she was of the Romanov line gets lost without indicating names properly here. . .

Such a beautiful peice of fine jewellery. Like many jewellery lost or found it belongs with its owner or family, as each peice holds a magnificent story and place in history, especially amongst royal history. Its also, lovely to peices that havent fallen into private hands and locked away, it would be nice to see this worn today again, by Sophie, Princess of Prussia.

I genuflect to Daniela, I love the fact she tried on the tiara. (Bucket list goal) I almost had a brain aneurysm when I was able to try on a 32 carat diamond. My head would most likely explode had this been placed on my head.

what royal hands? germany has been a republic for over 100 years now. These people would all be taxi drivers and waiters if they didn't flog off the old swag every 20 years or so lol@@franzgrabe1

@@franzgrabe1 Yes... of course ...by the 'nouveau riches' who have won lotteries perhaps and can afford to trampsy around like crowned hogs from the back alleys while they have no class. . . Does not look good. . . It makes Hollywood celebrities and the like look like 'wannabe' idiots wearing tiaras as well to the point it is disrespectful. . . Totally ridiculous. . . While I am aware that there are deserving princesses who cannot afford such items, these should be bought and gifted to them. . .

@Thornback You cannot make a blanket statement like this - do please educate yourself before coming out with comments such as you have. You also fail to recognize that many royals sacrificed to ensure peace for their people, prevent wars and form alliances to defend their countries and so much more... this you would not understand evidently. . .

Princess Sophie of Prussia wore the Prussian Meander tiara at her wedding. It is similar in design and also in this video: At 1:34 left the Meander tiara, right the one that was auctioned.

It was hard enough, processing the speaker's heavily-accented English, without that busy, nervous little music DROWNING HER OUT.
@RoyalSnowbird5 жыл бұрын
Daniela Mascetti who joined Sotherby's is not 'English' - she is of Italian origin and her English here was well-paced, perfectly understandable and classy in tone. All you need is to exercise a bit of patience to grasp her presentation. As for the music, it was not loud enough to drown her.
