Be aware that not all airbag accessories will work properly with the medallion. They will fit, but nit necessarily work. We had jeweled pendant holders that somehow blocked the medallion signal.

Our tip for disembarkation day: Often room service is not available on the morning of disembarking. However, the app still allows you to order drinks and food to the stateroom. We get coffee and egg muffins delivered as one last luxury before exiting the cabin for the final time.

Here's a tip, don't buy any accessories for your Medallion. Do you realize that all you are doing is buying accessories for your room key. Princess now charges you if you want your medallion sent to you before the cruise. They want you to pay extra to save themselves the trouble of giving you the medallion at the pier. Do you accessorize the key to your home, if not, why would you spend money to accessorize the key to your cabin.

These are all good tips but are not really what I'd call money saving hacks exactly (with the exception of the Air Tags tip). I do like how you can do so much with the app and the medallion. I've not sailed Princess yet, but am happy to see that you can check in on your computer instead of within the app. Not everyone loves apps for important things like checking in for a cruise and some folks are just not that tech savvy. I use my phone for many things but still prefer to check in using my desktop computer with its nice big screen.

A good saving with Princess Cruises is buying stocks of Carnival (CCL), buy 100 shares and get 250 dollars on board credit for a 14day cruise. They are very low at the moment. Once you get them, you can use them every time you cruise with Princess. Also, future cruise deposit. Our next cruise is on the Sapphire Princess Jan 20th 23 from Santiago in Chili.

Thanks for the tips - 44 days until we cruise to Hawaii out of LA on Crown and cannot wait! BTW I read that merchants are charged up to 15% merchant fee if they offer medallion pay so they lose lots of money. Going choose not to use that option as they need all the help they can get to recover from shutdown years. All the best to your CTTV fam!

I have been on 7 different cruises with the medallion and I have had nothing but trouble with the medallion. I have been billed for things I have never ordered and I have had to replace the medallion multiple times on every cruise. The app we have only used for getting ready for our cruise and it has been nothing but a pain in the backside. Needless to say I am not a fan of the medallion or the app but I am stuck with it for our next cruise.

Hey Jamie! If you went with a standard cruise fare without princess, plus or premier, you will not have to pay for meals in the main dining room or buffet or non-alcoholic beverages for the most part on the ship. Sodas and specialty coffees will be extra but the buffet and the main dining room will be completely included. You could also get iced tea, lemonade, coffee, and tea in both of those locations. We also cruised just before Covid and the Medallion was a pain. It consistently showed us located 1/2 km behind the ship 😂. I had to get it reset by staff at least once a day. I do hope they have the bugs worked out now. We’re off to Alaska in August for our anniversary. 🎉

We sail on Discovery on Feb 11. As a party of 6, we thought we had reserved our dining reservations for each night except one night in a Specialty restaurant. We decided to change the Specialty night and what did Princess do but cancel all of our Dinner reservations--NOT GOOD. When we spotted this, we called back in and Princess now wants my 93 year old Mother to accept an 8 PM dinner slot versus the 5:30 PM. Very frustrating and disappointing and we are not even on the Ship. By the way, your video was excellent! Thanks

Australian traveller - be aware that the Plus and Premier packages DO NOT include cabin service gratuities - only service fee for drinks and specialty dining. You still have to pay AU$16 per person per day service charges. Of course you can have it removed at the guest services desk but that's a pretty nasty thing to do. The cabin stewards work hard to make your cruise enjoyable and rely on the gratuities to make a reasonable income.

Where you go to get your excursion money back? We were supposed to be on our 15 day cruise on Panama Canal right down. Let’s just say American Airlines ,Dallas Airport and Princess let us down . They all made us miss our cruise because they would not work together to get our luggage from airport to the cruise liner. Dallas rebook us(6) to a airport an hour away from we would catch our cruise. Ended up flying back home after 2 night in hotel before we could leave, adding a expensive of $3000 more out of pocket. Thank god for our AAA travel agent trying to get our hotel and tickets home after the big let down of these companies. We will see how much we get back.😮😮

We were almost in the same situation last time we cruised. We needed to travel from Australia to Rotterdam to pick up the cruise. We arranged to get into Rotterdam 30 hours before we had to board the ship. Our flight out of Sydney was delayed several times and then cancelled at 8pm and we were told if we were lucky we might be able to get on a flight at 5pm the next day, but they couldn't confirm until the next day. We had friends booked on a 9pm flight out with another airline and we managed to snag the last two seats on that flight, which fortunately code shared with our airline, so we didn't have any additional costs. They were the worst two seats on the plane, right up the back, so sleeping was hard, but I didn't relax until we finally left Abu Dhabi on the second leg, and I knew we'd make the cruise. From now on, we plan to be in the departure city at least 48 hours before, if it's a long haul flight to get there.

Princess chooses your Stateroom later VS You choose your stateroom now. Same price for each. What is the advantage to the consumer? Thanks!

The staterooms you can select yourself that are the same price as Princess choosing your room are at the front of the ship. If you are affected by motion sickness this could be an issue for you, but if Princess selects your stateroom you could end up at either end of the ship too. Mind you selecting a cabin doesn't mean you get that cabin anyway. We booked two cabins on P&O, same company as Princess, and paid an additional fee to guarantee we wouldn't be moved ($100 er person, 15 or so years ago) as we had teenage children with us and we wanted to make sure we were together. When we checked in, we found we had been "upgraded" several decks lower, and the children's cabin was at the other end of the ship on a deck below us. I was furious and argued at the desk for ages. We were told to contact our travel agent. The problem was, the ship had been delayed docking that day and it was 11pm. We couldn't contact them. They wouldn't give us back our rooms or give us rooms together as they said they were fully booed and it wasn't fair to the people in the rooms we'd booked, but wouldn't accept that it wasn't fair to us when we'd booked and paid for them first and paid the extra fee. I stood there until they eventually found us two rooms together. They were substandard to what we paid for but at least they were together. Moral of the story, the cabin you choose is never actually guaranteed.

Another bit of info. We did the guaranteed cabin thing four years ago on Holland America. One set of co travellers wanted to choose their room, so they paid a thousand dollars more than us and the other couple. Come the week before the cruise, and we were allocated cabins right next to the couple that had paid an extra thousand dollars for theirs. Same cabin layout and size.

The kids bands fit adults, but I've just added a few more to the idea list. One of them is actually a Princess brand item, the other works with an apple watch band. We did use the kids ones, and they worked great! Am currently cruising on the Caribbean Princess - Western Caribbean. Dining in the Buffet is significantly worse than what we have experienced previously. At dinner only one of the four serving stations is opened . seating is crowded- bussing of tables is slow. you have to be served so lines are long. There is no fresh pasta serving station. Drink service is non existent. It’s obvious that Princess wants you to pay $100+ to go to the specialty restaurants

Top tip is NEVER book a cruise with Princess ever. Double charged our bank account but abysmal customer service said they didn't despite our bank being on the phone with them and showing them duplicate emails and invoices that came in 10 minutes apart. Then to "make up" for it canceled my room and booked a new one with complimentary Premiere upgrade only to then bill us on 2-8-23 for the so-called complimentary upgrade and state in the bill that it had to be paid by Jan. 24, 15 days in the past. Despite a screen shot I had proving the complimentary upgrade and the paid in full status, the rep on 2/8 said Princess never does that and our only option was to pay another $2350 or cancel the Premiere. Otherwise he would cancel our entire cruise and we'd be out 100% of what we paid already! Waiting for hours to get a rep and then they don't know anything. Stay away!

@@queenslanddiva Maybe so, but they still have not refunded us for an excursion Princess canceled and they said they would, nor compled us for the two COVID days despite follow ups and having it in writing. 3 other cruisers were double charged in the same two week period.
