@@verabolton at its core, the crown is surprisingly accurate for a drama series. It’s very clear they’ve done research at least. I strongly recommend watching the documentary “Diana: In Her Own Words” it’s heartbreaking.
@verabolton3 жыл бұрын
@@glucosedigest2642 There is no such thing as "educated guess". Guessing is guessing and it can turn out to be very far from the reality. It's tragic how blind most of the people are and think this movie presents the truth. Very, very dangerous kind of blindness. Note: those lies are the most dangerous that hold parts of the truth. This movie is a clear example of that. Diana was manipulative and gave that interview out of sheer revenge. Hence it cannot break my heart. And no, I am not heartless: I've seen it in real life how charismatic and charming people are able to manipulate the public. Diana's "innocent" look on that interview is actually a look of an aggressor, google it and you will be surprised. Her occasional smirk gives her away too. People are blind. Charles made many mistakes but Diana was not an angel either, oh, very much not!

Just finished watching the series. Emma's performance as Diana was magnificent. Charles had always been henpecked, sidelined by his family and awkward when it came to winning over the public. Whilst I'm not a fan I believe he should've been allowed to marry Camilla. Or if he was that desperate to have her, renounce his title to marry her as Edward had done. I dont believe he anticipated how well received Diana would be by his family or the public. Here comes this beautiful, charismatic and warm girl who won over everyones hearts and completely stole his thunder. And his inferiority complex couldnt handle it. They were both of two very opposing personality types. Charles desperately tried to win public favour and fell short and Diana did it with ease. He was very formal and reserved she was unconventional and open.I dont doubt she enjoyed the admiration and attention she received. She was unappreciated within her marriage and didnt quite fit in with the rest of the royal family. Her isolation in her personal life drove her to desire acceptance elsewhere. Too warm,sensitive and open and unwillingly to mould herself to fit in with the rigid ideals of the monarchy. Theres only so many excuses he can make for the disolvement of their marriage her mental illnesses, her neediness, the overinvolvement of the public. But Camilla had been present in that marriage before itd have even begun and he was entirely unwilling to accept this new bride who was too much for him to handle.

From what I can tell, there’s 99 ways to not fit in with the royal family and maaaaaayyyyybe 1 way that’s acceptable, lol. Thatcher was nothing like Diana and she couldn’t fit in either, for example. I don’t know how accurate the depiction of the royal family or Elizabeth is, but it almost seems like they feel they were entitled to accept only people who fit into their idea exactly plus had to show that they felt their inferiority compared to such fabulous people as them at the same time. There was just no winning. They never had to change or compromise for anyone else or take anyone else’s opinions or feelings into account. People had to change for them, or they just didn’t count.

Back in the 80s, when my mother and father still lived in England, HRH Diana was in some sort of parade and exchanged hellos with the people. My mother, who was mystified by her, was so excited that she couldn't help but call out to her. Diana heard her, and my mother, who hailed from the Philippines, had the chance to shake her hand. My mother told me that she had very soft hands, had very minimal make-up on (only her blue eyeliner stood out, which she also wears in 4:28), and she smelled so sweet, much like the English rose that she was. My mother was very lucky to have met her in the flesh. The look of awe in my mother's eyes when she retells the story each time leaves me with goosebumps. When Diana passed, I was eight, already living in a different country, and knew very little about her. My father, an Irishman, was crying while watching the report on the BBC, and my mother was in shock. Since knowing about her years ago, I've always had a fascination with her as such a beautiful, whimsical, and melancholic figure. I hope that she has found peace. She will be missed. @@glen7318 Dodi knew he was engaged. Diana did not know until his fiancé sued her for alienation of affection. The reality is Dodi was a womanizing playboy living off Daddy's money, he was 42 years old when he died and had never worked a day in his life, nor had he ever been married. Dod's father is the one who set them up and if they had married it would have been a Jackie and Onassis type relationship. Diana may would have married him for protection. Though, as we saw he did not do a good job of that, he got both of them killed. He would have married her because his father wanted him to, and he was tied to Daddy's purse strings. They were not in love. Diana did love Hasnat Khan, but he did not want life in a fishbowl which he would have had if he married her. As far as the story of the married man and police involved, yes, I have read it before but just like YOU did, never is there a name of this married guy. No way to know if this story is true. I doubt it. I think Charles's camp invented it. I only believe what Ken Wharfe said in his book as although he did not like her, he was fair in what he wrote. There was a lot of negative propaganda going around about Diana. Yes, Diana was on the outs with Fergie, but Fergie wrote in a book that she borrowed Diana's shoes and got some type of viral warts from her. That would have made me mad too. Besides I also seriously doubt Fergie ever borrowed her shoes. She was 8 inches shorter and has small feet Diana had big feet. Diana's mother? Didn't she leave her children for another man? I doubt I would have had a good relationship with my mother either, if she had done that to me. From what I understand Althrop had a cottage on the estate Diana wanted to borrow for her and her sons that summer of 1997 for a place for them to be together away from paparazzi and he refused, and her mother sided with him. Heck, that is how she ended up with Dodi. Dodi's father heard about it and offered her his yacht for her and her sons for a vacation together with him and his family and then had Dodi come along too. Don't forget her brother has used her fame for his own profit and still does to this day. He rents out her childhood bedroom for something like 25,000 a night. As if opening Althorp for tours is not enough to cover his expenses on that house. No, he is just plain greedy.

Even with "The Crown", showing a slight insight on this monarchy, once I knew they would feature Diana, I waited to see how they would show her. She was nothing horrible. She was soft, loving, tender, aching for a love she would not receive, wanting to be heard and properly seen til she gave a voice. And what a mighty voice. Even after all these years, we hear her and love her. Diana wanted nothing to be loved. Her Highness, the People's Princess, YOU. ARE. STILL. LOVED. 💜

Princess Diana did a lot for example when she shook the hand of people who had aids, at the time in the UK no one did that and all thought AIDs people would infect you as soon as you shook hands, even had social workers that would refuse to care for people who had aids so had lots of people suffering from aids abandoned by their families and left alone and abandoned. Diana on the other hand shook their hands which was hella a big thing at the time and obviously she tried to make the Royal Family more relevant to the people. The symbolism of the end scene of final episode of the Crown S4 will be lost on some people and is literally and could be decsribed as the last moments of Diana.The camera concentrates on her clearly assesing how she as ended up in the position she's in through the choices made for her. In the background "Silent Night" is playing as you hear the phrase "sleep in heavenly peace". The flash from the camera goes off which is no doubt one of the last things she saw (witness statement "a blinding flash of light") followed by the sound of the flash gun recharging (the high pitched whine) which makes a noise that sounds a lot like a heart defibrillator recharging, You then hear "sleep in hevenly peace" again and cut to black.More subtlety to a scene than what you first see.

I know those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's remember the phenomenon that was Princess Diana, or what she would later be called - Lady Di. I thought she was simply the most important person in the world as a child. I revered her, thought she was the Princess of the world. I do believe she actually was, she was the Queen of Hearts - all over the world. She changed so many lives, and as new generations come along and learn about her, she inspires them, long after her death. People like Diana only come around once in a lifetime, burning bright for a short amount of time. History will always be kind to Diana, and not to Charles.

I was 7 when Princess Diana passed away. I had cut my hair short the same time and everyone was calling me Diana (I'm from a small town in India), and I had no idea who she was and why they were calling me that. Today, I'm a woman, a woman who has known what it is like when you're not wanted somewhere and everything you feel cannot be expressed to everyone. And all I can do is, try to put myself in her shoes and think what I would be doing if I were her and what she would be doing if she were me. Rest in peace, Lady Diana. We miss you dearly.
