Princess Jellyfish: Friendship, Beauty, and Gender | JustPeachyMomo

I'm finally back with another video! This time, I'm talking about one of my favorite anime series of all time: Princess Jellyfish. Princess Jellyfish is a beautiful series from 2010 which centers around 18-year-old Tsukimi as she moves to Tokyo to live with her fellow female otakus and begins an unlikely friendship with the wealthy cross-dresser, Kuranosuke. I've adored this series since I first watched it in 2014 (so much so that I even got a tattoo of it when I turned 18!), so I just had to make a video about it. I also wanted to discuss some of the themes and messages of the show while also shouting out other works by the author, Akiko Higashimura.
Glossary:

I'm so delighted to have your video grace my for you page after just having watched Princess Jellyfish!!! You made sucu wonderful and valid points in this video, and I hope that men in real life can also find peace with femininity, someday.... Princess Jellyfish is such an important piece of media for me, especially because it takels such relatable topics with such care and vulnerability, I am honestly disappointed in myself for not finding it sooner! I used to relate so, so much to Tsukimi. Even now, I have times where I get so insecure, that I feel like I don't deserve to have a happy life. And sometimes these used to become suicidal thoughts.. I wish that I had Princess Jellyfish in my life back then to show me that yes, ALL GIRLS CAN BE PRINCESSES. SCRATCH THAT, ALL PEOPLE CAN BE BEAUTIFUL. I am so thankful that I have the experience of watching and reading it now though, because at least that one message has been drilled into my head, and won't leave me again..
