Broadcaster Dee Dee Dunleavy says Princess Kate’s long-awaited return to public life gave England “something to be proud of”.
Princess Catherine has made her first public appearance at Trooping the Colour since her cancer diagnosis was revealed several months ago.
“It was really important, not just to the people ... but just for the unification of the country,” Ms Dunleavy told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

The RF does not exist through tax payer funding. Monarch & other family members have their own private wealth and investments. The sovereign grant is derived from the profits from the Crown Estate, which belongs the reigning monarch - although the king can’t sell the assets, or keep profits for himself. Tax payer money that is received funds only official duties & police protection.

How rude you are to call us vacuous. Take the royals and traditions away and what have you got? horrible boring politics or despot leaders who tell lies and serve only for themselves. Britain is fortunate to have a working monarchy instead of a dictator state. The pageants are colourful, uplifting, and represent past history and show respect to millions who died serving their country and the Commonwealth. The royals work tirelessly for many charities. Most are born into it and cannot just "give their notice in" even if they felt like it (unless they marry someone like Rachel Markle!) They are wealthy, but the Crown estates are there for the Kingdom too and also for the many millions year on year who enjoy visiting a piece of history. It's sad if you are not able to appreciate history.

Your taxes would pay for the security of your Head of State whether they were Royal or serially elected every 4 years. If elected, you’d also be paying a hefty salary, pension, and ongoing security for each and every elected president for the rest of their lives. That’s what we pay for our presidents in the US. It’s far more expensive. And no President is going to bring in tourism dollars like the Royals do. The Royal Family also does a lot to try to improve the lives of others. The Prince’s Trust, the King’s Foundation, William’s Earthshot and homelessness initiatives, and Catherine’s partnership with significant businesses to improve the lives of working families with young children. Just to name a few.
