Well, that is the going rate for trailers like this. The Conqueror 440/490 are smaller but in the same price range. Even small off road teardrops are in the $30-40k range. The point of something like this is it can be towed by a CUV or go down off road trails without hanging up a mid sized truck. Its also nice to be able to travel the country without spending $10k+ in gas.

@jrambo74952 жыл бұрын
Don't those toilets require a lot of energy to run? I don't know how practical that would be if you're going to boondock per se but I could definitely see that working with shore power,no problem. Either that or that dry flush toilet would be amazing to have in a build!
@felixcat93182 жыл бұрын
I started out with the Thetford cassette toilet system, but found emptying and cleaning the waste tank to truly be a thing of horror! Thereafter I went over to the bagging system for solids with separate container for liquids. Hygiene, dignity and horror free disposal and cleaning made a welcome return...
@NicMercy2 жыл бұрын
@@jrambo7495 It depends. There are some that run on propane and require very little electricity, and others that run solely on electricity and require a lot. In either case, they are also VERY expensive, but I still would rather pay the cost than deal with compost or blackwater. I've seen a van camper build that has the fully electric incinerator toilet, and has a very robust solar setup to accommodate running it (and a ton of other high energy consumption stuff like air conditioning), without needing to be on shore power. Having enough money seems to be the answer to everything :P I suppose a dry flush toilet is something I could deal with over a compost or cassette style toilet, but even having to throw bags of waste in a bin isn't very appealing.

First impression it's beautiful. I do question leaks with so many part's getting connected each time you use it though. Two great idea's on paper might not be great idea's in practice and that's the shower and toilet. Privacy is all but gone with the shower and toilet, doesn't seem that big a deal at first but if you camp with friends or relatives you either have to leave the camper or sit there while someone uses either. If you're eating and someone needs to use the toilet, I just think this is great for a couple but not a family because of the lack of privacy. Most pop-ups don't even offer a shower or toilet so I guess if you compare it to those but they also don't cost over 50k either. I love the look, simplicity, price is way to high though and it just seems it will leak water

Reasonable upgrade is to have 2 solar panels 180 Watt each. Off grid means serious business. The inside is really high, would make sense to utilize that space. A-Liner is an innovative design, however the resale value and durability of these kinds of units don't stack up well next to Fiberglass or Aluminum Trailers. I hope the engineering has progressed to mitigate resale value loss.
@NorthernKitty2 жыл бұрын
I have a Rockwood A122-S, not an A-liner, but frankly I found the durability of these pop-up A-frames to be greater than that of a standard travel trailer. The interior especially is very solid and very simple (fewer things to go wrong). The floors, counters and cabinets are definitely more solid and fixtures like the sink more substantial. (My sink is stainless steel, the ones in the travel trailers anymore are plastic). I really feel it was a significant "upgrade" in quality. One big plus is that EVERYTHING is easily accessible if you do need to repair it. I had a 24' travel trailer before this, and my A122-S is substantially quieter and less "rickety" during VERY strong winds. It felt as secure as my house. Even snow loads are less because of the slope. Ever since I bought it, I've been sleeping in it about 70% of the time - I prefer it to my house. It's very cozy. You may be right about resale value, but that meant I picked my 2013 up dirt cheap as compared to travel trailers I was looking at. More solid, fewer problems, cheaper price, cheaper and easier to tow. I couldn't be happier! I'd recommend one to anyone that doesn't need much space, they're best suited for someone camping solo or as a couple and for brief outings, like a week or two. With either more people or longer trips, you'll probably be wishing you had more space and less frequent chores. Edit: Just an afterthought, but I actually prefer these A-frames without the extra dormers. I feel dormers add more cost, weight and moving parts that can go wrong without adding much extra in the way of space. I don't see a real benefit other than aesthetics. My model doesn't have dormers, and you can comfortably fit 4 people at my dinette with no awkward bending or anything. It's just that the top of their head is a little bit sticking up into the bubble window. Still plenty of head room, even for someone 6'4", but it does feel odd the first few times. It doesn't obscure your vision, it's just weird having your head sticking out above the ceiling. Over the bed, thought, it's not missed at all - you don't need overhead space at all to sleep. It MAY make the person sleeping closest to the wall feel a little claustrophobic but it won't impact the actual space they use or even their ability to sit up a little. The inside area is similar to the space of the top bunk in a travel trailer but sloped.

A microwave is missing if You compare it with your smaller model. At least for me it is very important. Congratulations for this model. I rated at about 80% ideal and pratical. One last advice/suggestion: Everytime You people make a demo You MUST show details in motion. It doesn't serve as much to simply talk about it, You must show it to the customers. Examples: Where is the shower curtain and the dinner table?

great thing though, but were is the storeage room? if you go off grid with 4 persons for more than just a week end, i think you have to believe in good weather, so that you can store everything disturbing in your outside tent....or? and yes solar power is good to have, but only 180 w permanent? this folding trailer is great and makes it even better with windows around and a high roof, the shower in the floor (wrong place for me) but i think there are some upgrades needed besides the outside grill. and PJ mentioned nothing about the chassis of the trailer. is it really off road fitting? or just impostering? for good sales? (--> big wheels, uhh uhh)
@ianbeckynicolebrowne8757 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, WAY too expensive. But as far as mold, geez people, run an electric dehumidifier in it if it's stored at home where you can empty the tank. What I would like to see is a floating "shelf" that could be suspended from fasteners in the roof. Put it so it hangs 7 feet or so off the ground and that could act as an "attic" storage area, freeing up floor space and making use of the tall area that is otherwise wasted. Oh and did I mention that it's WAY too expensive. But I do like it!
@Flips420 Жыл бұрын
Agreed!!! Most people who tent camp, fold it up with moisture in it and as a result get mold and mildew as a friendly result. Same with a fabric pop up. People need to smarten up.
