Willingdone, these are all great vids. Many thanks. I've just started out in the game, so I'm geeking up on as much as I can. While it may be basic to seasoned veterans, this stuff is pure gold to folks like me.

Jakers NI I'm glad I could help! Welcome to Netrunner! It's an incredible game!

As a newer player, this video has been invaluable. I realized I was trying to basically make the square peg fit in the round slot by wanting certain corps to do things they weren't necessarily good at doing(and spending precious influence trying to do that). This is an excellent analysis of the meta game and really helped my approach to deckbuilding. I really enjoy your videos and would love to see more catered to newer players that see a huge library of cards (and knowledge of those cards) as a pretty massive hurdle in a game that already has a pretty steep learning curve. Thanks!

***** I'm glad that I could help! I have several videos in planning that might address some of the large card pool problems. What type of stuff would like to see? Something focused on the factions or on the "most important" cards? I've also thought about doing a video about what to buy as a new player. Any suggestions? Thanks for watching! I hope that you enjoy deckbuilding in Netrunner!
@theswad9 жыл бұрын
Willingdone I think the 'what to buy' would be helpful, for sure, as would faction-based videos as well (what to expect when you play x faction or what they are capable of/excel at). Or even combining those elements as well! As in, you've got the core and maybe a few packs, here's what you need to grab if you like playing HB, for example. Something that's been on my mind since I started, and I've yet to see/hear anyone address it: nearly every veteran player I talk to has said grab Opening Moves bc of Jackson Howard. Yet it, along with four other data packs are awaiting reprint according to FFG. I'm a longtime tabletop gamer and I know from experience that FFG can be, well, sketchy at best when it comes to release dates and support information like this. I play at the kitchen table a lot, but the players I hang out with and talk to and play with casually at my FLGS are all saying go for it, play some tourneys, get your feet wet. So I guess my question is this: do I just run a slower corp deck with less ability to cycle? Is there a 'best-case' replacement? Has this happened before in Netrunner? After years in M:tG, I have zero desire to throw 80$ at a data pack on Amazon that may be 15$ at my FLGS within the year (hopefully!). Thanks for your vids and analysis and sorry for the wall of text!

***** Thanks for the suggestions! I'm looking into doing some introduction to each faction videos with purchase suggestions at the end. Unfortunately, there isn't really a substitute for Jackson Howard. It's a shame that the Opening Moves reprints weren't finished in time for the summer tournament season. I'd be very surprised if we don't see the reprint hitting shelves within a few months. I'd say that you don't really have much choice other than to play a Corp deck without him. I'd still encourage you to play in local tournaments though. Having a sub-optimal deck is unfortunate, but tournaments are incredible fun and great learning experiences. Plus you get to meet lots of local players and generally socialize with people with similar interests. I love tournaments and think that you will too. Even if you don't have a strong finish, you'll almost certainly have a good time. As another former Magic tournament player, I've found that Netrunner tournaments are far friendlier than Magic tournaments in part because there's less on the line. I agree with your assessment RE: $80 pack. Don't overspend for Opening Moves. It's been listed as in the reprint process for several months, and I expect that it'll be back in stores in a few months.

I'm just getting into netrunner, this video is really helpful for deckbuilding strategies. Having read the comments I understand it's fairly basic. But I think that's ok, it's what the video is designed to do. Thanks for making it.

Do you got one for Runner decks. I know it is harder because the Corp deck type can set the overall pace of which the runner needs to work at to win. But is there like some concepts that is universal to all runners? Some of the concepts I can think off are economy to install and use cards, ways to pass ice, avoiding damage, and setting up for quality runs.

Good intro! There are, of course, exceptions (Medtech player here) but this is a good intro to the archetypes.
@Willingdone10 жыл бұрын
crossbrainedfool Tons of exceptions, unfortunately. I did my best to focus on the win mechanism. The decks I show in the video are just the most obvious examples I could come up with of the categories discussed. I think you'd probably agree that Medtech is a "Score Three Agendas" type of deck even though it's trying to score two 3-pointers.
@crossbrainedfool10 жыл бұрын
Well, that's one Medtech build. I actually run the fast advance 2-pointer variant, which plays like the score four decks. .

Awesome video! I took your advice on the 3 agenda Glacier deck, and decided to make my own HB glacier. Any suggestions on my choice of ICE's? (Keep in mind I only own a single Core + CnC expansion only) ICE = Barrier: 3x Heimdall 2.0 3x Wall of Static Code Gate: 2x Tollbooth 2x Viktor 1.0 Sentry: 2x Archer 2x Data Rave 2x Hunter 3x Ichi 1.0 Would extremely appreciate your suggestions mate!
@Willingdone9 жыл бұрын
+khan507 Looks pretty good. I have a few suggestions. I don't really like the tag-oriented ICE without playing a bunch of tag punishment cards. I'd suggest losing those for less conditional ICE. Heimdall 2.0 is good but really expensive. I'd cut back on them and play some Ice Walls instead just to have some cheap ICE early game. I don't see Viktor 1.0 as pulling enough weight. I strongly prefer Viktor 2.0 and Enigma or Datapike. Are you playing methods to rez Archer other than forfeiting an agenda? Archer rules, but it's hard to justify if you have to forfeit an agenda. Maybe something like this: Haas-Bioroid: Engineering the Future Agenda (9) 3x Accelerated Beta Test 2x Gila Hands Arcology 3x Priority Requisition 1x Project Wotan Asset (8) 3x Adonis Campaign 2x Melange Mining Corp. 3x PAD Campaign Upgrade (3) 1x Corporate Troubleshooter 2x Red Herrings •••• Operation (9) 2x Archived Memories 2x Beanstalk Royalties •• 3x Hedge Fund 2x Successful Demonstration Barrier (6) 1x Heimdall 2.0 3x Ice Wall ••• 2x Wall of Static Code Gate (7) 2x Datapike 3x Tollbooth ••••• • 2x Viktor 2.0 Sentry (7) 3x Ichi 1.0 2x Ichi 2.0 2x Rototurret 15 influence spent (max 15) 20 agenda points (between 20 and 21) 49 cards (min 45) Cards up to Creation and Control

Why don't you do a video on card analysis. Showing how you justify whether or not a card is good. Or a video on efficiency, as in how much our clicks are really worth. We all know clicking for credits is usually a bad choice but how can we build decks for more efficiency
@Willingdone9 жыл бұрын
BBFOGingerNinja Good suggestions! My Data Pack Reviews are essentially card analysis, and I think it'd be hard to make a video explaining my "rules" for evaluating cards. Many cards are only good in the context of other cards, so I'd have a hard time detailing rules of thumb when it comes to evaluating cards. Probably the closest thing to a rule of thumb that I have when evaluating cards is "if the card requires other cards to garner any value, it's probably bad." Regarding click efficiency, that's a topic I've spent a lot of time thinking and reading about. It's very possible I'll try to do a video about this topic once I figure out what I want to say and how to say it.

You're kind of wrong about the majority of decks (or, well, by "by far the most popular") using fast advance/4 agendas. NBN, Cerebral Imaging, and Tenin are the only factions that regularly fast advance these days. ETF is all taxing/glacier nowadays. In the 14 tournament winning decks since The Spaces Between, that's only five. Totalling up the wins in H&P also gives us a number just above 40%, which is certainly not >50%! Though NBN gives a lot of new players the most trouble (as it's the least obvious to play against), it's not as dominant as people make it out to be; a lot of players consider RP to be better. It could just be a prevalence of NBN in your meta, but the large majority of decks aren't actually fast advance. Nice video overall, though, and it was a really good introduction! I just thought I'd try and leave some constructive feedback on a comment you made!
@AdrianHerber10 жыл бұрын
NBN FA may not be winning #1 at every big tournament but it's extremely common in my experience. At Australian Nationals last week, NBN NEH was everywhere and 5 of the top 8.

That's why I don't pay attention to people's strategies. Everyone thinks they can make a strategy to LCG'S or CCG's. A beat em up deck or over powered deck is not strategy. It's taken those cards that every views as weak because they don't have a big pay off; and making those cards work together and for you.
