Love this idea. Another hack you could have done, instead of setting the square to the pen function, you can set it to a guide, and can still slice with the guide.

The fine point blade works great with the thinner magnetic sheets. I've ruined a few sheets with the deep point blade. Good thing you accidentally used the fine point blade.
