Printing Business Cards in Word | Video Tutorial

After struggling for days to make business cards with Word and watching dozens of videos, your video made it immediately clear with what the problem was. You started by saying that Word was not a very good tool for doing this and then at 2:57 you said that, when copying your design into the other cells, Word would probably screw up, "There's no way around it." Ooooh yes, there is a better way then copy - paste and without additional adjusting! I had a very complicated design on my card so I had to find way to designed it only once, without adjusting every single detail 10 times. I designed one card, then I did print screen, pasted it into Paint, croped it, saved it on my desktop. Then I opened new word doc and inserted that croped picture of my card and adjusted overall size with pooling only a corner of the card to make it a bit smaller. Then I just copy the whole card and paste it next to first card, then pasted it again under the first card and continued on like that until I paste 10 cards on page (in two columns). IT ACTUALLY TAKES ABOUT 3 MIN TO FINISH ALL UP, ready to print, after you finish with your design, of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And there is no damage to the quality of font nor logo nor photo on the card!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have to manually change the font size above the top printed line. Just highlight the card text and use Layout, Align center. That way, your top and bottom margins will be equal. As for printing, you don't want the table lines, so if you have a store-bought package of cards, be sure you change the table line color to white first.

The table line color wouldn't matter because the background is blue. The cutting happens on the line, the line will be gone anyway so it doesn't matter if it's black or white.

This is just for the front. How about the back? The printing has to be accurately done to make sure both sides sync correctly when cut.

You certainly could. Keep in mind that most personal printers can only hold a certain, maximum thickness of cardstock as well.

Can you describe the process of how to do this if you have a jpg or png image that includes your entire business card? I can resize the image in another program and copy it to clipboard. I'd like to be able to just put the business cards into the grid layout that you created. Is this the easiest way? Or, is there a better way?

I put in those dimensions and Word rejected that 0.2 margin. It said its outside the area of margin for a printable page or something. It self fixed it to 0.57" Also, I don't see a margin ruler up top. All I see is a blank page. Now what?

Thank you. I got the template, okay but when I start typing any text in any of the cards, the size of the card expands. I saved as a template and tried using the template to insert the content of the business card but the same thing happens. It would be nice to keep the template fixed. Trying to figure it out.

I just went back and made it match. I was able to actually hold a business card to my screen and make an exact fit and it printed just like it looked.

What if you already have a design logo with the background?

If your logo is saved as a JPG file (or any image file, for that matter), you can insert it as a picture. Go to "INSERT" "Picture", then go find your file. You may need to adjust the sise of the image once you load it into the card, of course.

Very helpful, but I would just add to make your job search card more effective, change the borderline to a lighter color just so it doesn't show up when you cut them with scissors. Making them uniform exactly 3.5X2 is a plus.

You should have added a preformed company logo image. Basically a JPG but must have a transparent background
