Printing to Scale - SketchUp Vs LayOut

That was cool. I didn't know you could print to scale directly from SU - before I got the Pro version (and thus LayOut), I was either exporting a jpg and hoping it was kinda to scale-ish, or doing some weird workaround with Word (like my alliteration?). Then I got LayOut, and voila! Easy peasy printing to scale! So much so that I didn't know there was another way. Thanks for that. Could we have a link to the replay of the livestream modelling, please? I like to watch them when I get time

I’m really going to have to figure out layout. I’m going to search for this but a suggestion for a future segment would be how to do a standard three view plus iso (standard for mechanical type models) drawing in layout.

Thanks Eric, really useful tip. I also think that this is a good reason to "dip my toe" into Layout. Like many others, no doubt, I have always found Layout to be a bit bewildering for the hobbyist. This use-case seems quite simple, and it might encourage me to try more in Layout.

How do i print something to scale 1:1 over multiple sheets like a poster. I have darwing that i would like to glue to a wood tempate to use a flush trim bit to route out some curves onto multiple wood pieces. Thank you

Generally, that is something that your print driver can do for you. There is not a "print across multiple sheets" option in LayOut. Try making a page alrge enought to fit your model at a 1:1 scale, then tell your printer to print it on multiple sheets.

@SketchUp thank you for the follow-up. Ironically, while I was driving around today, I thought about that making the viewport larger for my model when I set the scale to 1:1. Update: got home and update the document size and was able to print it out in poster form. Again thank you for helping get in the right direction!!!

Everything in SketchUp is intended to be modeled at 1-to-1 scale. There is not a "scale" setting.

I did not know that when you export to pdf it keep textures?… always when i expert to pdf it gets rid if textures and gives me plain coliurs…I alway found myself exporting another png then overlaying- tricky as I use the background pdf for accurate scaling….after the struggle to match the size, the final result it always loosing the quality of the pdf
