Pripyat Drone Footage, Chernobyl in Snow (January 2016)

Drone footage of Pripyat in the snow, taken on a DJI Phantom 3 Professional. Taking off from the Palace of Culture and flying over some of the 16 story buildings, covering the Ferris wheel in the fairground and also over the collapsed school, hospital and an internal view of the swimming pool. The drone was flown in freezing weather at -20oC and snow was flicking over the lense as the drone was in the air. From Pripyat the drone filmed the nuclear power station in the distance with the new sarcophagus not at the time completed, seeing the original covering.

What's crazy about it? Stay on the paths the guides show you, refrain from entering buildings and dense vegetation. It's simple. Workers enter the reactor building now without special protection gear. If you do as you are told when visiting you wont have any health issues later on and your ceasium levels wont be any higher.

You know, I can't stand the Call of Duty games, but one of the best FPS missions I've ever played was in Modern Warfare when you went through some of these areas on a sniper mission. Beautiful footage you captured here sir. It's so creepy. It's almost like a real life version of a zombie apocalypse: an entire city gone. Of course, doing moonlight sonata as the music of choice enhances that as well! Great job.

I was there around two weeks ago, we did a scavenger hunt all over Europe with the destination Chernobyl. We Vlogged the whole trip. We were the first civil people who were allowed inside there with their own car. It was so impressive.

This video inspired me to buy a drone. I got a cheap one to learn on for $50, now I just ordered a JJRC X5 drone for a bit over $200. We will see how it goes. It has nice camera footage. But yours is amazing! What type of drone was this from and what camera? If I like it I'll upgrade more but I doubt I will need better than what I ordered for what I'll use it for.

That's great, glad it inspired you to get your own drone. The one I used in this video was a DJI Phantom 3 Pro, I've got a DJI Mavic Air 2 now though. As long as the drone does what you need there's no point in upgrading. I got the Mavic Air 2 because of its ability to track and size for travelling, important for what I'm doing in future videos.
