Pripyat. The radioactive ghost city frozen in time since 1986

A visit to Pripyat nearly 40 years after the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on April 26th 1986. The city was built in 1970 to house the power plant workers, scientists and support staff - and their families, and was evacuated a few days after the accident. The accident caused 100's of tonnes of highly radioactive elements from the destroyed reactor core to be released into the environment. #chernobyl #chornobyl
