French judoka Priscilla Gneto won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics. Gneto won the European title U57kg in 2017 in Warsaw. She captured the gold medal at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2021. She won bronze at the Junior World Championships in 2010 in Agadir. She was European Open Team Champion in Istanbul in 2011 with France. Gneto won bronze at the Grand Slam Paris (2016) and bronze in Abu Dhabi and Düsseldorf (2016). She won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017 and 2022 and bronze at the GP The Hague 2018. She took gold at the European Open in Luxembourg and Tallinn in 2019.

Country: Ukraine | Born: 10 October 2000 (21 years)
Daria Bilodid of Ukraine became 2019 World Champion in Tokyo and won her first title in Baku as youngest ever gold medallist. Bilodid took a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Bilodid became European Senior Champion in 2017 and won European Games gold in Minsk and GS Abu Dhabi in 2019. At 16 she was the 2nd youngest female ever. Bilodid became World Cadet Champion in Sarajevo in 2015 and won the 2018 Junior world title in Nassau. The only judoka to take both the Cadet, Junior and Senior European title in 1 year. Daughter of Gennady Bilodid.

Biladod just needs to develop more strength moving up two weight classes, and this is hardly an upset like the press advertised as Gneto has been on the podium a lot at the highest levels of competition.

Going up to two weight classes is obviously an issue. She no longer has as big a height advantage she once had and she is likely being out powered at this weight class. Hopefully she gets stronger and adapts.

She also needs to learn how to throw properly. Girls closer in size to her cannot be simply held at arms length before being crudely bundled or tripped over like her tiny opponents at U48kg. They’ll also respond more ‘robustly’ to her repeated and deliberate hair pulling violations.

Nope... In fact the ukranian guys obtained good results (IADOV won Gold), Bilodid success was her size in U48... Now she's compiting against girls taller and stronger than U48, and that's when you see the truth... She's not that good!

Finally fighting at a realistic (non bulimic) weight category? Previously 47kg at 1.72m FFS! Wishing her well after my own honestly much deserved criticism of her poor and limited standing techniques at U48kg. She is an outstanding newaza artist. If she also develops some more varied tachiwaza apart from her usual bundling those much much shorter U48kg opponents with a scrappy left Osoto/Ouchi/Uchimata, and reigns at U57 or U63, she’ll have won me over. Her parents should be ashamed for deliberately starving their daughter’s body for years in the pursuit of medals. Child abuse and hardly a positive role model for young girls. Slava Ukraini! 🇬🇧
