I said it once and I'll say it again: I like that Corridor Digital actually treats the security force like they're actual people instead of faceless, disposable goons. They operate well as a unit, they only resort to lethal force when it appears they've lost two of their own, and even when they have the thieves at gunpoint, their priority is still recovery the device, not any sort of needlessly vindictive acts of cruelty.

I think you're just looking too much into the fact that if they had the security team go lethal from the start, the protags would be dead. They're not fighters, they're unarmed. The only way to have them win was to make the security team play non-lethal so that they could take their weapons.

+MC ST0RMPEGASIS It's cyberpunk. There are no good guys.

Lamo, no good guys? How is the inventor a bad guy?! He is trying getting his property back! Unless this is some, "I'm jealous of rich people so anyone with money is automatically bad in my eyes" kind of thing.
@andrewrawlings52208 жыл бұрын
Rather than just get his property back or turn the thieves over to the authorities the inventor decides to 'have some fun', beat on a couple of kids and throw them off buildings. If you think that's the actions of a good guy I think you have a skewed sense of morality.
@DaveSmith-cp5kj8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, because beating up some kids is way more incriminating than stealing a companies flagship work and shooting up guards. The law does not obligate one to grovel to the LE for help if you have the means to defend your property and life. That kind of logic is like those brainwashed idiots on the "news" that defend BLM criminals who get shot because they were "poor little children" who "didn't do nuffin". Ignoring the fact that prior to getting shot they were committing a crime including trying to fight an officer. Something is up with society where we protect criminals and incriminate the victims.
@andrewrawlings52208 жыл бұрын
Incriminating? No. Psychotic? Yes. He wasn't just trying to beat them up he was trying to kill them with his bare hands after calling off his guards (who would just have shot them which would have been far to quick) and taking them somewhere where he could kill them slowly without witnesses. But sure, lets call him the good guy...
@Sh1tbagActual10 жыл бұрын
It occurs to me that those kids were totally the bad guys in this. We were never shown anything that suggests that Blackwell and his company killed innocent people, and Blackwell himself initially tried to keep his guard from hurting them, if only to protect PRISM. The kids however, Broke into a convention, stole a piece of presumably valuable equipment from blackwell, and then killed scores of Blackwell's men, albeit in self-defense (I.E. were far from innocent at any point in the film.)

The guards only started shooting after they saw the two guards on the ground. Imagine it from their perspective; two unidentified people broke in and stole a piece of valuable equipment, and the first two guards are on the ground, not moving. The only irresponsible moment was when the CEO knocked out his own guards and joined the fight, even though the guards had successfully deescalated the situation without hurting the suspects.
@abonynge10 жыл бұрын
Darian Poffenroth That CEO was given far from full knowledge of the situation before he came in. Even that is hard to define as bad. Seriously, this video is supposed to have us sympathize with common criminals. I think they widely missed the mark with this one.

Ok, yes guys, the protagonists are bad guys. They stole and killed from a corporation, and escaped in the end. So what? This is a short film meant for entertainment, not to teach morals. I think too many people are focusing in the morals and not the effects. Compared to other videos Corridor has posted, the effects were pretty good here. Not a big fan of the blue laser gun towards the end, and the falling sequence coulda been better, but otherwise nice job. Dialogue wasn't bad either, hope to see longer videos like this from you guys

You know, I think it's because people are afraid of these kind of things influencing people, like Miley Cyrus on 12 year old girls. It kind of does take the fun out of things, movies can show us bending the rules of life where we can't do it in reality, and it's amazing to watch, but some people are afraid that other people actually believe this can happen. Well, this is just in my opinion, probably not the only reason but a suggestion. It's pretty good actually, CorridorDigital should do more of these.
@SkintSNIPER2629 жыл бұрын

john krick Morals are part of the plot. Plot is also a part of "entertainment", without plot the special effect wouldn't have as much influence as they have. I am unable to enjoy a short which wants me to sympathize with a pair of childish murderers. ***** Neither do them. They didn't steal from them and kill their people because of any reaosn other than having fun (well, at least the stealing part, killing was just a consequence of it). It would be more acceptable if they had a viable reason for doing it.

Geez, finally. I've been searching for ages for a video where the faceless goons are the good guys while the good-looking leads are the villains. And finally, I find it. And with excellent production values, too. And to anyone who doubts it, yes: the security team members are the good guys. They do everything in their power to non-lethally apprehend a pair of thieves of a ridiculously dangerous technology and only turn to lethal force once it appears two of their numbers have been killed.

To the people moaning and groaning about how the protagonists weren't 'good guys' and how they broke in and killed tons of people.... Yeah, that's all true, doesn't really matter though. A protagonist can be good or bad, do good or bad things and either be the heroes they are in most stories or simple thieves like they are in this. I found it a little interesting to be rooting for a protagonist who is not the stereotypical good guy, it was like choosing between two evils, with these two thieves being the lesser since I can guess that Blackwell had committed murder at some point to protect his company's interests-I base this on how damned good at it and how willing he was to commit it.

So many people are so serious about this! It's well made by a couple of regular blokes who call themselves Corridor Digital in the States who get funding by fans to make their movies. It's certainly better than a lot of shit Hollywood is churning out these days. I like the idea and concept and whoever it was said the kids were to blame - hey it's a fantasy MOVIE! It's not real... Kids like the edge of nearly getting into trouble. I reckon if it was made into a TV series or movie then all the people bagging it out would actually go and see it... and I bet seeing as they're funded by fans it would make them millions to fund other great stuff. A lot of us wish we were as talented as they are to bang stuff out like that, but sadly we are not - you should check out their Superman with a GoPro video - Drines are great fun if used properly. Instead of bagging out the idea when why not make your own movie that's better.. oh sorry, you can't because you like to complain more than be creative... Just saying....

For those of you are confused with the plot and think that the protagonist kids are the bad guys, here are my thoughts. This reminded me a lot of Mirror's Edge 2, and I thought that the plot could be similar. There is probably an internal plot that's not revealed, one in which society is being controlled by another association. This association is the company that owned the teleporter device, and they wanted to use it for evil purposes. The kids are just regular thieves, but they stumble on to this device and steal it. If the plot continued, my guess is that the kids realize its true power and use it to stop the association. This is similar to how in Mirror's Edge 2, the controlling association plans to infuse everyone with Reflection, which promises to enhance humans but in reality it also gives the association the power to control their minds.

There's just one thing that I realized after watching this again; teleportation is MAJOR. Wouldn't the company that made the PRISM implemented, say, a killswitch or something to deactivate the device in case it fell into the pocket of somebody with malevolent intent?

While the CEO guy was kind of stupid for just teleporting in and ruining the chances of getting his thing back, because his guys did actually have the situation under control to an extent, that teleportation backhand was something beautiful to witness.

At 0:48, it's definitely still illegal if you don't get caught. But, you're not in trouble unless your caught. I've learned this from Aladdin!
