Introducing... The Landscape Material! Setting up a landscape can be a scary endeavour, and rightfully so - Landscapes will end up being the most complex material in your project since you need it to contain so many different layers to allow for artistic freedom when creating your game world.
Today we cover the basics of setting up a Landscape, the benefits of using Landscape Layer Blends, the different blend modes and their uses, and much more!
This is the introductory video to landscapes and will serve as a basis for the upcoming videos in the Landscape Miniseries. Hope you enjoy!
Note: You can ignore the node hiding behind the Texture Samples - it's a Prismatica-specific thing, but just imagine we're pulling a pin out of the RGB channel

So how do we get textures Like blue channel is height and rgb is normal?
@PrismaticaDev
@PrismaticaDev 3 жыл бұрын
You can bake them in-engine, although for most cases you can put a Height texture into the Alpha of your BaseColour texture. The only reason I have mine in the B channel of the Normal Map is because I don't use any BaseColour textures in my game so it saves me an unnecessary texture sample :)

@PrismaticaDev. The "BlueStuff" is its own independent layer. Is it independent because you used "LB Weight Blended" in the material graph or is it because you chose "Non Weight Blended" while creating the LayerInfo? Before I forget, your tutorials are good. I'm happy to see that your videos only cover what the title of the video says, and you don't digress much. *Edited once to correct typo.*
@PrismaticaDev

@@PrismaticaDev Appreciate the quick response :). As a follow up, what happens (in other words, what's the use of) if I choose "Alpha Blend" and then choose "Non weight blended" layer info? Or "Weight Blended Layer Info" with Height or Weight blend in the material?

@@Zoomiiiess I get notifications for all my video comments :) If it's grey it means that you're using more than 16 textures in the same landscape chunk. Set all your texture samples to "Shared:Wrap" in the texture sampler settings and it will fix itself
