I used to work as a prison correctional officer. They get seriously creative with their snacks and actually use foods as a form of pseudo currency among each other. It’s kinda wild to be honest. They can buy some goods from their store from their earnings ( which they’re paid ridiculously low wages for their work btw). I’d say the wildest one I saw was one guy took a whole pack of jolly ranchers and put them in a bottle full of rubbing alcohol ( yeah… wtf? ) and let it dilute down and he drank it. I was like … bro that’s not even the right kinda alcohol, you’re just ripping yourself up from the inside. His reply? “Better than nothing”. Is it though? IS IT?

Where are these inmates located? It appears that the authorities are not conducting shake downs. They would never have gotten by with any of this at the jail I worked at. The trustees work in the kitchen. You never know what you're going to get in your tray. BTW, the nacho salad with the cheese and everything was being done before TikTok came out. Believe me, it smelled really good too.

I've spent 1 month in jail in Japan, Shinjuku, you get dried fish, dried rice and a packet miso soup, you can pay 500 JPY for a better meal normally just a Japanese Curry Bentou. Best Prison food is hands down Korea, kimchi and Fried chicken, facts, I'm a career felon.

I don't think prisoners are allowed cell phones, but maybe the guards do tiktoks with the prisoners or maybe they buy the plastic video cameras and they upload stuff after prison or they are just making tiktoks post-prison

No prisons allow cell phones, all prisons have inmates with cellphones. The guards are always the ones bringing them in. Its a very lucrative businesses for a while until they get caught.

Inmates who come out of jail/prison will show the food they make. And I don't think they are allowed cell phones but last time I knew someone in jail was 2014 and they weren't allowed cell phones. Might just depend on the state and the peison

I have unfortunately been incarcerated and cooking is def something you to kinda pass some time. Don't get me wrong, its also to feed yourself but it's moreso for having a good time and passing time. Tray food is absolutely horrible. Borderline inedible. You only use the trays to get ingredients to add to your self cooked meals..
