I didn't get this from watching these videos, but I can relate. I have recently lost my adult stepdaughter from a past marriage (who I raised all of her childhood and loved like a daughter), and my two granddaughters, in an accident. Just before I lost them, I had found out my stepdaughter, a very pretty, green-eyed, blonde-haired girl, who had been neglected by her real father after age 5 and it apparently caused her serious issues, had been occasionally selling herself as a prostitute on a website, meeting guys from like a BDSM website who paid her to do mistress things to them, including sex acts for money and weird shit like guys paying her to walk them around on a leash with a diaper, and fetish-type sex shit. Someone who told me about it said on her profile, she had her age range set from 18-90, and listed just about every option they had available to list on her profile as "her kinks" (i.e. what she offered). So not exploring a sex thing, just straight up whoring herself for the money. Apparently for a while she just paid her bills with this. She brought these perverts to her house where her older daughter lived (she hadn't had the second one yet). It was while the daughter wasn't there, but still she let these weird motherfuckers with violent and freaky sexual fantasies know where she lived, which I consider endangering her daughter. (God knows how many sex offenders were amongst these freaks and knew where she lived, and could have started stalking her, or her little girl.) It was an insane shock, because other than off and on off and on occasionally returning to this abusive asshole loser she couldn't seem to get past, she never showed any serious problems. She wasn't on drugs, she didn't hang out with scumbags or have a sleazy life. Other than the short periods when she went to this guy, she would spend all her free time with family, doing things with her girls, and living a clean life. She acted like the biggest sweetheart. Her and my granddaughters had all had been living with me in my house before I lost them. She had apparently quit that other shit, was working as a CNA, dated a guy for while, very stupidly got pregnant, he bailed, and I let her move in with me. She had my second granddaughter while living with me and I saw the first six months of her life every day. This was the fourth time my daughter, as an adult, had lived with me she was at my house for over a year before the accident. I was very close to them. So things went from everything was great, to finding out that father's worst nightmare shit, and then losing them all. I was ready to quit. I was as close to suicidal as I ever thought I'd be. I wanted to either check out or just lie down and not get up. I had always wanted to be good guitar player. But I never practiced because I was always working, going to college, supporting my family, etc. I used to enjoy getting the energy from smoking some weed and just practicing the guitar for hours when I was younger. I recently got my medical cannabis card, started vaping cannabis oil cartridges I get at the dispensary, and standing there just practicing on my Strat for 5-6 hours every evening. I put all my anger and frustration and pain into my technique, making my picking strong, making my fretboard hand strong, bending the shit out of the fucking strings for my bends and vibrato, not stopping for pain and no bitching out. In a few weeks I went from the so-so decent technique I had to Stevie Ray Vaughan strength and Van Halen speed. I'm not going to be a rock star at my age, but it's fun as hell to now have this skill and hobby, like maybe just being a weekend tennis player but practicing until you get a vicious serve, and Federer-level topspin forehand and backhand in tennis, or being a casual golfer but being able to smash a drive 300 yards dead straight every time and having a PGA-level short game. I plug into my amp or my headphone amp and I sound fucking incredible. I also started seeing a counselor weekly and going to grief counseling classes. It sounds stupid compared to maybe getting rich in business or something, but when you're at your lowest, just getting up off your ass and doing SOMETHING you like, and putting everything into it, and going to get some help if you need it, is character.
