New to the game and wondering how you consistently get the prompt for the flame spray attack. I keep getting the tear gas prompt instead.

Flame spray is the melee prompt you can get when shooting an enemy's head. Tear gas appears when shooting its arms instead. So go for the head if you want flame spray, although you may get more criticals this way (purely luck).
